Worried!
Okay, I colored my hair tonight. As I was waiting for the time to be up so I could rinse it out I was reading the Colorsilk box. I have used this many times, also know many on here like it as well. I thought only the conditioner packet had cones.....NOPE!
I believe dimethicone and cyclopentasiloxane were in the cream developer, they were at the very bottom. So I figured what difference would it make if I used the conditioner as well. Apparently the coloring part had a sulfate in it as well, and the conditioner had cocoamidopropyl betaine in it along with amodimethicone.
I know I shouldn't touch my hair for at least 72 hours-I'm fine with that. The thing is that I no poo, so what can I do about those cones?
Thank you!

You will most llikely have to sulphate poo it all out after the 72 hours but it's ok. One sulphate poo wont kill your hair. I have also heard that a lot of curlies follow a color with a protein treatment and a DT...anyone else? I colored my own hair last time with a natural dye and had no issues.

I use Colorsilk religiously every six weeks, and I find it to be extremely gentle, despite the bit of yuck ingredients. I low-poo after 48 hours, and my hair is just fine. In fact, coloring always seems to leave my hair in BETTER condition.

I know it becomes a matter of pride after a while when you`ve been no-poo for a long time. I don`t think theres any other way to get those blasted cones out.
I DT 2 days before and a few days after.
Unlike most other people, I also co-wash right after highlights. I have an allergy to hair dye and even with foils some makes its way to my scalp. I have to get it off or I end up with little `cigarette burns` on my scalp (or worse). My colour doesn`t seem to fade out any quicker than anyone else`s. I`m really not sure that it`s entirely necessary to have a waiting period. I know opinions vary greatly on this subject but my stylist told me that older dyes took time to develop but the newer ones are fine.

My stylist also told me that with the newer coloring systems, you don't have to wait to shampoo or co-wash like you used to have to. This is good because I don't wait. My stylist uses shampoo and conditioner with cones, which doesn't bother me, but I do want to wash them out fairly soon after I get my hair done.
I also do a protein DT 7 days before and 7-10 days after color.

Cowash for a few days afterwards and see how your hair acts before trying a shampoo. You might be pleasantly surprised and not need to shampoo. We want to see pictures!

Okay, thanks ladies! I dyed it fairly close to my natural color. Cause I have highlights growing out and had 3 inches of some gray roots, I didn't want the rainbow look anymore! I need to get a battery for my camera.
So do you guys think the sulfate and cocoa betaine would cancel out those cones-especially if they were like the last two or three ingredients?
Yes it is a pride thing, I don't want to use a sulfate, but looks like I did with the color anyway! I really want to style my hair today....if I just wet it and style it would it be okay? Or do you think that's just as bad as shampooing too early?

I don't wait, doesn't sound like MsG does either and speckla's right - co-washing may be enough.
I used the K-pak which has mineral oil that's only supposed to come out with poo. But I didn't have any issues with build-up and just co-washing.

Marinacurlz,
Your hair is gorgeous! See, I told ya (in a good way) that it'd work. Your hair looks a lot like mine does when it's to shoulder and shorter layers.
Mine layers are longer and I get more tunnel-y type curls right now...but yours are so spring-y and pretty!

Thanks for the advice everyone! I'd have to say I didn't realize so many of you color your hair, it looks great and you sure fooled me!
