Thanks! I'm gonna give this a try! How much should I use as a trial in my rinse out?

Dumb questions alert: so you guys, when you say "rinse-out", you mean pour over your head and then rinse it out. Right? Or do you mean that you just pour it over your head and that's all, no rinsing it out with water.

No rinsing after with water. At least for me. The honey rinse is the last thing before my LI.
What do other honey rinsers do?

I rinse it all out as well. What I do is after I apply my conditioner, i take a small glob of honey (i dont dilute it in water), emulsify it- which by then its just a thin film, and coat my hair and scrunch upwords. i then put on a shower cap as i wash myself - couple minutes- and just rinse it all out. i was leaving some in at one point but i kept getting different results- hair was toooo crunchy sometimes and other times not, so i just rinse it all out.
Curlymix, everytime i read what your father says about picking noses, i can't help but to crack up! it is seriously the funniest cutest saying ever! I think i will start using it.. and hopefully someone will quote me and then it could spread. that sentence makes my day!

When I say rinse out, I mean that I'm going to mix it with my rinse out conditioner, put it on in the shower and then rinse it out with the conditioner.

Thanks curlymix. A lot on my hair has turned dark brown from swimming and bleaching from the sun (you can see it in some pictues with the flash). It's better now that I've gone mod cg and chopped off all the damaged hair. I would prefer that it didn't lighten. I don't know if it'll make a difference if I only use it for DTs since I only do them once in two months now that the condition of my hair has drastically improved.

That's correct tinah. I've never tried burgundy's method because I've been doing a Honey rinse with great results so not really in the mood to experiment but..never say never.... tinah start with 1/4 t in your rinse out and see how it goes, in the Summer I was using as much as 1t but never used more then that. You can add some more gradually until you see the effect you like

Wow wow wow!! I am so totally in love with honey now too!
So, i today I mixed just a couple drops of honey with my leave-in conditioner, scrunched it through very wet hair, then scrunched in a small amount of Boots curl creme and then the same Boots gel i used yesterday.... The results are Amazing!!
My hair has never been this curly, and while the hold is great, there is no un-crunchable crunch, and it even feels kinda soft.
I just put photos up on my fotki of it! Love it!! Thanks so much everyone! Del, think I might have to try coconut oil next

I tried mixing the honey with my conditioner today. I have all these awesome curls on the top that are holding well despite the humidity, but the bottom layer is starting to fuzz all over the place. Would more honey on the bottom layer get it to stick together more?

Burgandy_locks, feel free to quote my dad as much as you like. That is one of my favorite quotes of his.
Also, I'm going to have to try your method. Isn't it interesting how many different ways there are of interpreting 'rinse out'?
My tips always would lighten pre-cg as well. It bothered me to no end. Since I cut the damage off my hair, I haven't had ANY lightening, which makes me very happy. Then again, I don't really spend a ton of time in the sun. I'm sure that using it only for DTs will not be a problem with lightening.
Yay! I'm gonna check the pictures out now!
You might want to try adding a tad to the bottom half if you have been having problems. Just a bit though, you don't want it too stiff. What other products are you using to style? Or maybe it would help if you changed the method or something? ie- sectioning your hair so that more product gets on the bottom half. (I'm just throwing things out there. I'm sure that a dab of honey may be what you need, but it doesn't hurt to check).

I am currently using HETT and BRHG (hope I got those abbreviations right) mixed together. Also, I started plopping today, and I think I"m in love!
I have really "light" curls, if that makes sense. It takes a lot to weigh my hair down enough so that it doesn't stick straight up. I had been using Pantene because it was the only conditioner heavy enough for my hair. Now I've gone cone free and I'm co-washing with Suave Naturals and conditioning with either LPVNG or GVP conditioning balm.
I can definitely tell the gunk is out of my hair because it's got LOTS of volume. Lots and lots of volume. I'm trying really hard to embrace the volume!

What method are you using to apply your prodcuts? Maybe you aren't getting enough product to your understory (I think that is what it is called).
I use the curlisto method with the 5 sections. Lately I've been lazy so I just use a big clip and section out as I go along. I have found that it is the only way that I get good coverage on my understory. Its a looser curl on the bottom and it really needs something or else I lose my curl and it frizzes.
Maybe if you at least do a top and bottom half you can get more coverage on your bottom half.
I use to hate volume. Now I love it. It just took me getting my hair on track and healthy.

Here is a link: http://www.curlmart.com/Curlisto-p-1-c-13.html
Its the curlmart page for curlisto but it has links to their videos. I didn't know your curl type, so I didn't link any particular one.
I have found that the separate sections is really helpful. Like I said, I got lazy, so I don't really use the 5 clips unless I'm going to skip curl my hair. I usually just use a big clip to hold my hair on top of my head.
If you think that the application of product doesn't work for you, you can always apply your product the way you find works best for you, but at least this way you can get it everywhere.
HTH! Let me know.

Oh no! The links for either loose curls or wavy hair didn't work for me. Could you maybe describe it?
How to describe my curls?? I have big spirals on the top layers, probably 3a. I have fuzzy waves on the bottom layer, probably 2c, but they can scrunch up and spiral sometimes.

I want to say that on Sunday morning...I squeezed two drops of honey into my leave-in condish in my palm, then scrunched in it in and today is Tuesday afternoon and I haven't washed my hair since! I still have awesome curls, barely any frizz and just awesomeness. This is REALLY rare for me. I tried have 3-day hair last week and in fact, I went ahead with it, but it was horrible, and compared to this...wow!! So do you think honey had a thing to do with it? I can post what I used but I have used all the same stuff before so I don't know what else to attribute it to!! So I will say it's the HONEY.

Ok. Lets see if I can describe:
Section 1 is the section at the nape of the neck. I personally go from ear to ear.
Section 2 & 3 are the side sections. I personally draw a line from my temple back to the part that I did for section 1.
Section 4 is the crown area.
Section 5 is the front and center section.
I go from 1-5. I section only after I have LI in my hair. Then I take section 1 and mix my KCCC and curl creme or just my KCCC and add it a section at a time. I personally use a shower brush (I guess i might be a scalp brush. In any event, its a goody plastic brush that fits in my palm). I then section using the Ouidad rake and shake method. It works for me. For that I just run my fingers from root to tips to separate my curls, and before my fingers slide out, I hold the tips of my hair and gently shake to make sure they are separate. Then I scrunch.
If that seems like too much manipulation of your hair, you can just use your method of distribution of product.
The sectioning thing is the only thing that has ever worked in my thick hair to get product everywhere.

I definitely think it could me the honey. I've gotten the longest running days of hair from honey too. Although my last day is usually a pony, my curls still look good!

I tried the sectioning this morning! It worked! The underside of my hair is as curly as the top. I've never seen it like this!
My only problem now is I am too crunchy. I believe it's because I only wet my hair this morning and added more gel.
I'm going to co-poo tomorrow and try it again (still with the glob of honey!) and see what happens. I might be one of those every day co-poo curlies.

yay!
I'm so happy! What good news!
I was so happy too when I got my hair underneath to look as good as the top. It took me a while to get a good method down.
I'm happy to hear the good news! Yay again!
