Help with hair type please!?

Hey i am just wondering what type if hair i have since i plan on growing it out into a afro. What texture would you say my hair is? like 4a/b or even a 3c.... I dont think it's exactly black either. Maybe dark brown? Can anyone help? do you think my hair will get lighter as it gets longer? thanks....

It's really short so it's hard to tell what your hair type is. I'd guess that it's tighter than a 3c.

As for color, generally your ends are lighter than your roots but not by much .

ah ok, well do you think the top seems like 3c? it seems looser than the sides... and would you happen to know where i can see pictures of short curls to see what they look like? thanks alot for the speedy reply

There is a CurlPix link at the top of the page with pics but I don't know if that'd help too much. Maybe visit the 3c, 4a, 4b boards to see the curlies hair that post there and find some with hair that looks like yours to get a better idea. I'm sorry, I'm super bad with typing.

ITA. Also, keep in mind that it is probable that you have more than one hair type. Most of us are combos of some sort. So it is definitely possible that your curl is looser on the sides. As for color...at first glance I'd say your hair is black. Maybe it gets lighter in the summer though. You would probably know best since you see it in various lighting.

Yea, in the sun it's brown though... idk what to classify it haha.. thats why i was hoping it would grow out and id be able to tell more accurately... I know it's not black because i have this one piece of black hair on my wrist and its so much darker than the rest of my hair..

I personally think you need at least an inch of hair to classify it. my hair is wavy when slicked back but still forms a tight curl pattern 4a.
As for the colour, your hair isnt like jet black so it may appear lighter as it grows especially in natural light

Perfectly knowing your hair type isn't really important in the grand scheme of things. It's about care and styling.
