Hey, you're not alone. I have 3c/b/a hair and wasn't able to comb it for years, I'd stick the comb in at the top and get stuck about a quarter of the way down lol. Even now I can't even get a brush through my hair unless it's wet.
I have a suggestion - find a really good detangling spray and only comb you hair if it's wet.
When I brush my hair I use this technique:
Wet your hair (it doesn't have to be soaking, just spread tap water through it unless it's pretty wet but not dripping - I only shower my hair every 3ish days) and then spray detangler on the ends; try and avoid the roots unless this is usually also a problem area for you.
Only use a wide tooth comb, thin-toothed ones are more likely to break your hair an will be harder to use anyway. Work from the ends up and do it in sections. I usually divide my hair into halves and go from there.
Note than combing takes longer than brushing and you'll probably need to wet you hair more and take your hair into smaller sections.
That is what works for me, although I usually brush my hair as combing takes too much time. I'll comb on the weekends if I feel like it though.
A good detangler spray I use is Doo Gro Triple Strength Anti-Breakage Growth Detangler. I never used a detangler until a few months ago, but now I'll never go back. It makes a huge difference and now I can brush my hair when it's damp because the spray adds slip to my hair instead of having to shower it everyday like I used to.
Hope this helped, ithat is f you could be bothered to read all that
