So much damage!

The damage I have from almost 6 months of flat ironing just won't go away, even after months of CG. I've been considering getting the damage off, or at least gradually trimmed off, but I'm so scared that the result will be too short. My stylist was trained by a Deva-trained stylist (owner of the salon), but still she usually cuts off so much. Is there anyway that if I get my hair gradually trimmed the damage will go away? Or that over time with lots of gentle care and deep treatments the hair shaft will actually start to restore what was damaged? I know this probably sounds stupid, but do any of you have advice? Is it worth getting the big chop and then spending years growing it back out again?

Jess, damage doesnt go away. It remains until it is removed. For now you can minimize the appearance with DTs and gentle treatment.

Also realize, that the longer split ends hang around the higher up the hairshaft they travel, thus resulting in a longer grow out period.

Only you can decide when and how much to cut, but you are on a good path with CG - hang in there - I had to grow out a permanent straightner - seemed like a lifetime, but now its AWWWWW-GONE!:wav:

maybe you can use the k-pak reconstructor as a temporary fix until you grow your hair out.
it has protein and you can find a generic one at sally's for about 5 bucks.
it does have mineral oil in it..and i think people here have different opinions on whether it is cg-friendly.
