During the summer, I sometimes co-wash twice a week, and shampoo once a month. It's about the same during the winter. Fall and spring, I shampoo about once a week. However, whether I co-wash, shampoo, etc., usually depends on the products and the humidity level.

Almost the same here, but I low-poo about once a week, and just co-wash or wet & condition usually once mid-week -- or not. Depends on the hair's needs.

Default Once every eight or so days, unless I swim.

I wash with a shampoo when I get in the water, to rinse out and take out all the chlorine. But the rest of the time, i condition wash with Cantu deep conditioner whipped with olive oil, then I use Cantu's leave in whipped with olive oil as my daily leave in. Works quite well. 3-3c curls, finger spiral. In the morning when I wake up , if I've slept hard, my hair's flat on one side, but I still keep the curls LOL

I wash my hair every third day. I've been getting consistent 2nd day hair, and good enough 3rd day hair, plus I use natural products that don't cause a lot of build up. I alternate between strict co-washing (with either SN or TN), using a cleansing conditioner(CJDF or CKCC) and shampoo bars. I also DT once a week.

I used to every 3rd day because I was getting 2nd day hair, but then realized that my 2nd/3rd day hair (down) didn't look quite as professional as I'd thought so now I wash every other day. Now 2nd day hair gets pulled back.

Everyday with either a loo poo (Deva Curl Loo Poo) or co-wash (V05 Kiwi Lime) because I can't seem to ever get "second day hair."

Although I'm quite new to the non-sulfate/non-silicone thing, I wash about every 4 or 5 days. Since I use gel and mousse I can't seem to get a good comb-thru with co-washing because I can still feel the product in the hair (unless I need to take more time co-washing). I revive my hair with a little conditioner and maybe a little water for 3rd and 4th day hair.

I only wash my hair maybe twice a week, occasionally three times depending on what I have to do. I find I can usually get second day hair (probably because I toss and turn a lot while I'm sleeping), and then the third day is pulled back somehow, either in some sort of braid or in a ponytail. I find that I can go about 5 days before it really gets oily, but I prefer to wash it more often, if for no other reason but to experiment with hair products. I usually use a really gentle sulfate shampoo because my hair loves the protein in it and it's more gentle than a lot of the low poos I've tried.

Maybe cause I'm still a noob, but I was curious between what people consider a wash, a low poo wash, a co wash and just wetting their hair. I see SO many of us on here that have mentioned achieving 2nd, 3rd and sometimes 4th day hair, but are they getting it wet in between those days or sleeping with it dry or what? I get some people can do plopping and pineapple or the whole satin pillow case, but whats going on before they go to bed or getting up in the morning.

As of now I wake up and am just now starting to get 2nd day hair but that's because I've been sleeping with a satin cap on at night. Kind of like a loose plop or a bundled pineapple kind of deal. I get the best results with this technique, but I find that I HAVE to start all over again for the 3rd day. Most of my curl has fallen out and i start to get weird kinks in my curls from sleeping on it and it's more frizzier too. By start over I mean I CO-wash, RO, LI and the whole shebang. Are others just wetting their hair and just doing a LI or something else?

I will spritz with water and LI sometimes between doing my whole routine, and sometimes I'll apply more product in between to get better definition on days I don't do my routine, but is that the norm? Just curious!

I consider it 2nd day hair only if I wake up in the morning and I don't have to do anything to it and it looks good enough to leave the house without wetting it. That rarely happens so I wet my hair every day.

Washing involves friction.

Low-poo = a sulfate free, gentle shampoo, low on surfactants (some technically sulfate free shampoos try to make up for the lack of sulfates by piling on loads of more gentle surfactants, so they can be very rough on your hair). If you want or need primarily to cleanse your scalp, you can apply conditioner to your wet hair before applying the low-poo to your scalp.

Co-wash = washing your hair and scalp with a conditioner applied to your scalp, and using plenty of friction.

Water wash (I know you didn't ask, but it's relevant) = washing your hair and scalp by giving yourself a great scalp massage under running water.

Rinsing = getting your hair plenty wet, often for more than a few seconds under the shower head, but not using friction.

2nd/3rd/4th/etc. Day Hair = hair you did not rinse or get really wet, and don't have to style all over again. My hair is never ready to go when I roll out of bed, and neither is any straight haired person's. Everyone has to do some damage control, whether it's combing and brushing like straighties do, or dampening and scrunching. I generally dampen my hair lightly, either with water or a mixture of water and conditioner or styler; dampening my palms, sandwiching my hair between them, and quickly running them down my hair from root to ends; then I give the roots a little scrub with damp fingers, and scrunch with my hair flipped over. Because I don't get my hair very wet, it dries within a few minutes, as opposed to the hours it takes to air dry after washing. Often the result is better than first day hair because the clumping isn't as pronounced, but I still have good curl definition.
