How often do you all wash your hair?

Like Tree1Likes

I'm just curious, how often and whether you do CG, Low Poo, regular Poo, etc.

It used to be that before I embraced my curls and the wonder of leave in styling products I would go 3-4 days without washing.

But now that I use gels, curl enhancers, etc. my hair feels so dirty if I don't do it every other day. My scalp even starts to itch from the products. I guess I'm not used to all of this stuff in my hair, so I feel like I'm washing more than I would have in the past. Maybe I just need to get over this.

Me too. I also like washing my hair, but it is a nuisance.

I put once a week for co-washing but I often go longer. Water washing it depends. Sometimes I waterwash between co-washes sometimes I don't.

I low poo every other day. I have 2 - 3a hair and I'm growing it out from a pixie. My hair gets squashed when I sleep every night and at the very least needs to be completely wet every morning. And since I tend to over-condition easily, it's just easier to low-poo.

fine, med porosity, normal elasticity
Currently using the following 2 - 3 x/week:
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day suphate-free Poo, cone-free CO and styling treatment, plus KCCC

I use a natural soap bar every three days--much gentler then low poo. It's just enough to remove any residue CG product, but won't remove things like mineral oil, or for me, castor oil. I lowpoo every three or four months, if I have the need--like using an ingredient that my hair doesn't like. It's less often now that I know what it likes and doesn't like. I stopped cowashing when I started with the soap bars 9/1/08.

I said every other day because I've been able to get second and even third day hair upon occasion. More likely to have second day hair than third, though.

I can kind of tell after I wash and style if I will get a second day out of it. I sleep either in a pineapple (when I see still at night that it still looks good, I do the pineapple) or I lay out the culrs above my head and then the sides. When I roll over, I tend to rearrange my hair again while I sleep. (I've always done that) So, sometimes I get the third day hair.

But mostly I wash, water wash or co-wash every other day. I haven't touched any shampoo in weeks.

CG was the best thing I ever did for my hair. Ever.
I use a low-poo or shampoo bar 1X/week. I used to co-wash but that left my hair a mess. I do water rinses, sugar scrubs and shikakai rinses but mainly just water rinses daily and my hair is a LOT better now! I use very clean and natural products and get no build-up.
Type: 3a, fine, thin, low porosity Water/Climate: soft/ marine Washes: water w/washcloth, shikakai, clay Condition: Style:Seamollient, CurlsPFCCP, Miracurl, Gel-les'c, CK; rudeechick's super soaker method; blot, air dry 30 min; diffuse Also: coconut oil

Once every two weeks, sometimes less. My scalp isn't greasy and my hair never feels dirty to me. I know when it needs to be washed though as it starts to feel dry.

Try to limit to twice a week: one wash and go, one twist and curl or roller set. I shampoo every 2nd or 3rd wash.

I no poo 1x weekly and condition daily.
2b/3a.
I see a few of you water wash in between. How do you detangle your hair when you do that? I'd never be able to get a wide tooth comb through, and I imagine raking would be a bit difficult for me without a bit of conditioner. I'm 2b/3a but have tons of hair.

Mmmm, well....I usally end up washing only 1x a week. Sometimes I'll wash 2x a week if I sweat a lot (because of exercise) or if I am experimenting w/ different products.

I co-wash every other day and low-poo about every 2 weeks.
3b with a little 3a
Mostly CG, but I love me some amodimethicone.

Cleanse: V05 Kiwi Lime Clarifying Conditioner; CJ Hibiscus Bliss low poo; LLL Green Tea Cleanse
Rinse-Out: Kenra moisturizing conditioner, Redken All Soft (old formula), LVPNG, LVPHG
Leave-In
: Agave nectar plus Sebastian Potion 9 or Aloeba
Style: Dab of QCCC, Re:Coil or Mop-C under BRHG/HESMU combo

About two to three days every co-wash, about once a week or about every third wash w/shampoo. I've noticed certain products make my hair feel "dirty", like Bioterra, so I only use those products occasionally. I co-wash more often when I work up a sweat (which is not a lot lately, maybe I should think about that).
Currently on the shelf:
Cowash- suave coconut
condish- Biolage Conditioning Balm
Still experimenting with styling products-
BRHG, Kenra Moisturizing Condish (as a leave in), Mirra Gel and Mousse just added
Hair is getting healthier every day! Avoiding glycerin & alcohol for now.
I CO wash every day (usually V05 Kiwi Lime) and use a shampoo bar once or twice every week, or every other week, depending of what my hair needs & how it behaves.
Hair Type: 3A/3B; natural color; mid-back length.
Shampoo: Shea Moisture Coconut Hibiscus (2 - 3 times/week)
Fave Rinse-Out Conditioners: HE Hello Hydration; Yes to Blueberries; GVP Conditioning Balm;
Styling Routine: Squish-scrunch product /conditioner into soaking wet, upside down hair; plop for 10 minutes, air dry. (Diffuser dry front section.)
Fave Styling Products: KCKT; Tigi Curl Amplifier Creme; Batia & Aleeza gel; Giovanni Sunset Styler; LA Looks Sport Gel.
If i intend on wearing my hair just down, i need to atleast condition my mane every 2nd day since my hair gets crazy pretty ez. i can't just water rinse because i actually need to get in there and detangle with conditioner. but as far as co- washing the scalp, i can go on a week or more. Also, if i dont mind throwing my hair in a pony tail or bun or whatever other hairstyle, i dont need to wet my hair at all. I do wish i could leave my hair down more consecutively without wetting it so often... if only...
para los gustos se hicieron los colores

i has no hair type? (medium, f-iii), normal porosity, LOW elasticity.

Protein- GVP Joico K-Pak
Play with ACV
I voted "every third day," but I wanted to also add that I rarely use any kind of shampoo unless I've overdone my oils at night or I've used some new product that I can't wait to get out of my hair. It's pretty much always a co-wash for me.
3a and strictly CG since August 2007. Porous and on the fine side. No to magnesium sulfate and glycerin. Yes to protein! Favorites:
