Should I go short or leave it?

Hi! I am a guy with long curly hair and I love, but I would like to try a different look leaving curls. I want to go short, because my hair is damaged, after that I plan to return to long curls. Should I go from this: to this: ?

Yes, get rid of the damage! Does your hair still curl when it is short? Mine gets straighter but healthy looking short hair is much better than damaged. Using more natural products will make it healthier.
Type: 3a, fine, thin, low porosity Water/Climate: soft/ marine Washes: water w/washcloth, shikakai, clay Condition: Style:Seamollient, CurlsPFCCP, Miracurl, Gel-les'c, CK; rudeechick's super soaker method; blot, air dry 30 min; diffuse
Wow..... you could really use some help with damage. I'd say cut it short and start again, you have some potential for some beautiful hair.!
I'm starting to love my hair

The biggest fight that we will never win, is the one with out hair.

Get rid of the damage. It'll grow back nicely in no time with proper care . And have a try at the CG method (Curly girl/guy method). Check the going shampoo-less section for more info.

Is the first picture you and your hair? If so, I would cut out some damage. But why is it damaged? It could just be very dry. Maybe some good deep treatments and TLC would help.
