Default ;-; Why doesn't it work? (Boots Curl Creme)

So on the recommendation of someone who posts here, I joined the boots curl creme bandwagon. I'd read about it before, but her testimonial wasjust enough to get me on it.

The first time I used it, it sucked. It dried out my ends, made my hair stiff. After talking with her again, I used more product. It worked well, then I had the same issue. Dry ends.

A few more experiments, and still the same result. Then once, one tragic, AWESOME time, I got the best curls I've ever had in my life. They were soft, shiny, and lay perfectly in the way that they were supposed to. It was freaking awesome.

And now, it doesn't do it anymore. I want to get that back, and I'm wondering if I'm just doing something wrong. I've tried various amounts, from nearly nothing to a large amount, and I still haven't gotten it back. I have two containers of the stuff, and I'm not willing to give up just yet. XD; So help?

I'm layering this over conditioner, by the way, sort of as a gel. I used it by itself once, and that was horrible enough to never mention again. I've tried various ones (Suave, Giovanni, VO5, Aubrey Organics) underneath it, and the Giovanni was what gave me the awesome curls with it, but no more. ): Help. XD;

Ahh, boots. It's a staple but I don't use it often. For a really long time I used it to SOTC. Then I tried it under my beloved BRHG and had one great curl day, I duplicated the same efforts the next day and nada, not the same. I wish I could tell you more, perhaps it helps to know you're not alone.

ETA: it's a better winter product for me than summer.

I just don't know what to do. The days where I get it right/it works properly, it's AWESOME.

I actually jsust used it now with AO, and it worked. Curl definition and all that, shiny/glossy too. And I KNOW, as soon as I try it again, it won't work.

It's incredibly frustrating. XD;

Thanks. It actually did.

I'm currently trying it out with 'cones to see if that helps, but if it doesn't, next time I wash my hair and rinse the cones out I'll try it with gel. I haven't been doing that because I figured it would just make my hair even more dry and crunchy.
