Something weird that I have noticed is that my hair seem to get more mineral/hard water buildup during winter. I have used the same stuff as in summer, but still I get more build up from the water. Kinda odd.

I have also noticed that once my hair got really healthy I can do much more with it than before and it still stays healhty. This is probably the best winter I have had when it comes to my hair. I guess maybe I have found good products, got down a routine that works and I haven't used bad products for so long (2 years now) that my hair is handling the cold better.

Hmm.

Okay, somebody help with suggestions for spring. Weather's been warm for the last week or so and my hair looks like crap. Nothing's working so far. I tried Boots (pink) with Volumax gel over it last night, it's okay but not good. My beloved Curl Junkie Coffee-Coco is also not working now. And for some reason I can't get B&A Gel to work for me!? HELP!

What's working for me right now is Jessicurl Rockin Ringlets and Confident Coils Styling Solution with Herbal Essences Set Me Up gel over it. I like the Set me up gel because it has a strong hold, and I usually do my hair at night and don't wash that frequently.

For 2nd and 3rd day hair, I spray some Jessicurl Awe Inspiralling into my hands and smooth and scrunch--that's about it usually. If it's not looking so good, or seems really tangly, I rake my fingers through. I don't brush. I haven't tried this combo in the summer yet, so we'll see how it holds up later.

Another combo that has worked for me in the past is Garnier Fructis Soft Curl Creme (this has dimethicone) with the Set Me Up gel. Especially when I diffuse. Diffusing seems to give my curls more bounce but can cause a bit of frizz. I only diffuse for 10-20 minutes so it's only partially dry, because that's all I have the patience/energy for. I don't follow the directions in the SCC, I use it as I use most products, smoothing and scrunching (no raking, twirling, etc). Except you do have to rub it between your hands first (as the directions say) because it's a wierd consistency. HTH

My warmer weather good combo seems to be what's in my siggy: Aloeba as a leave-in, a nickel-size glob of Re:coil and a couple quarter size blobs of Confident Coils Styling Solution.

My cooler combo that I grew to love was either GF CnS conditioner (or the knockoff of PM The Conditioner) underneath Graham Webb Making Waves Curling Gel.

I still play around with stuff (the PJ just won't die!), but at least I know what'll give me good hair days, winter or summer, when I need them .

I'm so glad that someone bumped this to the top. I was just trying to decide, now that we've hit that horrible in-between weather, if I should shave my head in desperation or become a PJ. The PJ thought is definitely starting to win...

I am so glad for this thread. Even though my hair has improved a lot from the way it is usually in the summer, I am having major problems. Instead of big and frizzy, now it is flat and static-like.

My hair has actually gotten more straight/wavy now than the winter from following the suggestions. Funny how before I wanted my hair straighter and now I can't stand it. It got to me when my straight-hair "friend" - ha(the one with complete ignorance to curly hair) said, "Oooh, your hair is getting straighter. You must be sooo happy, now you can have good hair and not wild hair all the time. Welcome to the better side." I wasn't happy with the straight hair, but with her comment especially "the better side," that did it for me. It was hard to come up with retort to her comment, but I made it clear I did not think straight hair was better but she was adament I was in denial. Arggggh.
