Flower Moon Soaps Out of Business???
Does anyone know anything about Flower Moon Soaps and are they out of business? They don't answer emails, and the 888 number is out of service. The regular 410 area code number is never answered, and the machine recording cuts you off before you can leave a message.
I'll be bummed as I really want to order some Dairy Whip. Help!!!
(I'll buy some off of anyone who wants to sell it to me, I'm desperate!)

Thanks, Brew I got it and I'll buy it off you and anyone else who wants to sell their DW. It's my new HG. LOL That and ACV and avocado with olive oil (my hair loves it).
I hope they are just overtaxed and not out of business, but it worries me when one phone # is out of service, and the other one is never answered.

I placed an order in Nov of '08, it took like 7 weeks to receive my DW. I was never able to contact them by phone then. A few people were able to contact them via phone. At another hair site, people were just receiving DW orders as of today. No one mentioned anything about FMS being out of business, maybe they aren't. I received only one e-mail from them and that took forever. Their customer service is hit and miss. My personal experience was bad, to say the least. I love the DW, but probably won't order again. I use it on my hair and body and it's great for shaving. I just ordered some stuff from Etsy's that I'm hoping will work as well. It's creme shampoo and $4.50 for 4 oz. I still have a couple tubs of the DW but I'm trying to find something to replace it when I run out.
Here's the link for the creme shampoo. They have different scents and two sizes. HTH.

Flower Moon Soaps
Hello all,
I've been a lurker here for quite some time and read the boards quite frequently. After reading all of the wonderful comments about Dairy Whip, I decided that I really want to try it. My frustration with Flower Moon Soaps has has brought me out of "lurking" status and I decided to make my first post based on my experience so far.
I was so excited to try their products so I placed my order on 4/14/09 and my credit card was charged immediately. I figured it would take a week or so, but from everything I have read, Dairy Whip is worth the wait. A couple of weeks passed and I didn't receive the order so I emailed on 4/28/09 to follow up especially since my credit card had been charged. I did get a response from Lisa within a couple of hours stating that their system automatically charges credit cards and that my order would ship within 2 more weeks. Obviously I was disappointed and stated that I didn't realize it would take that long, but ok. Another 2 weeks have passed and still nothing had arrived. So I emailed again on 5/12/09 stating that if my order still hasn't shipped, then please just cancel it and refund my money. I've lost my "gungho-ness" on trying it at this point. I received a response that my order shipped the day before on 5/11/09 but as of right now -8 days later - I still have not received my order. So even if I think that the product is the most wonderful in the world, I don't know if I would order from Flower Moon Soaps again.
So I am continuing to wait.............

I had a similar problem last fall when I ordered some DW and a couple of other items. My card was charged immediately, and it took about 2 months for me to receive my items. During that time I emailed and called a few times, and received responses from Lisa that my package would be shipped in the next couple of days. She told me that at least twice (I also didn't receive a response to one inquiry). I don't want to say that she outright lied, but it certainly didn't happen on that schedule. Maybe it was her intent to ship things more quickly, but in the end, it did take about 2 months.

Same here. I think I waited 8 weeks for mine, and then it was wrong. In fairness to Lisa, she always responded swiftly to my emails AND they shipped out the corrected item ASAP and gratis.

Well, against my better judgment... I went ahead and ordered some of their Castille soap. Del had sent me a bar a few months back and I loved it. And, of course, when I went to order more they were out, so I've been waiting ages already.
Ordered a ton, so hopefully when they finally arrive (if they arrive... :/) I won't need anything else for quite some time. Going to just keep my fingers crossed, I guess. And if it comes down to it, being out $18 isn't TOO bad...

I would imagine that word of mouth about their products on the various message boards probably overwhelmed them as well. My order is relatively small too so I wouldn't be out alot of money. I guess if the credit card wasn't charged right away I would feel a little differently about how long it is taking, or maybe they should even have the product lead times on their website so the consumer knows to expect a long wait. Could help alleviate disgruntled customers.
I am just SURE the box will be on my porch today when I get home...I just know it!!

I have to say that you gals might want to talk to Kathymack on the boards here. She makes soap, is pleasant to deal with, responsive customer service and might be able to help you out with what you're needing.
I know from my own soap making adventures that Castille soap is NOT hard to make. It sounds like, from the wait times involved, that they're not making the soap until after it has been ordered. Since soap can take weeks to cure and become usable, that's not acceptable for most people. "Green" soap, soap that isn't cured properly, still contains lye which can harm skin and/or eyes.
If you are going to offer a soap for sale to the public, you need to have a small batch available. I can understand telling someone, "I'm out of that right now. We just got a big order for that in and they wiped out my stock. I have to make more and it won't be ready to ship for 3-4 weeks because it has to go through the curing process. Can't have my customers putting out their eyes, you know."
It's the taking of the order, the charging the card right away, and then the silence, until one day, weeks later, something arrives in your mail box. That's just annoying.

Just saw this. Want to thank you for the positive remarks, but need to correct you. I don't make the soap. I buy it from a company that makes it for resellers.

And I actually have (and do love) Kathymack's soaps as well I do agree, she's much more pleasant to do business with as well.
My hair (in it's typically perverse nature) seems to like the flowermoon soap a bit more though (naturally). This is the first time I've ordered from them directly though, so if it turns into an absolute nightmare, convenience might outweigh that preference. lol

I haven't ordered from Flower Moon, but on the Chagrin Valley site they note which soaps are curing and the dates they will be available for purchase. That seems like a more honest approach to me.
