hair ruined by hair dye.. i think. help?

okayy, i have had naturally curly hair all my life. im mixed and my hair is super thick and grows fast. then i decided to bleach some of my hair with this high lighting kit last year. my hair was fine and remained curly. by the time most of the dyed hair grew out i got bored and high lighted it again... and my hair is completely different. all of my hair except about 4 inches from the roots looks like its relaxed or something! after getting out of the shower it just goes straight.. now my hair looks so retarded because its like half and half.. curly and wavy. what should i do? so far all i know i could do is basically cut all my dyed hair off. suggestions?

unfortunately theres nothing you can do at this point. The same thing happened to me last yr when i dyed my hair 2x in 1 week. We will just have o grow our our damage together.

im going thru something similiar, but for different reasons.the last year i have been straightening alot with a flat iron and now my curls seem to be gone. i went from a 3a-3b(my whole life) to a 2a=b in back with a big 0 in front. i do not want to flat iron any more, but it looks horrible natural.
try deep treatments, protien treatments, and baby your hair. it most likely though ,like me, will have to be cut off.
about 2 years ago my hair was very damaged from bleaching (also a relaxer, stupid,stupid).... i used apoghee (sallys) reconstructer which helped alot. some other very good deep conditioners are joico, loreal PROFESSIONAL(not the drug store ), and midollo. they are expensive but do help. put it on dry hair, and wear it back in a bun, or over night. after a couple of weeks you should notice a difference.
im starting this again, but will probablly get regular cuts to gradually get rid of my straight ends. im not sure they will ever come back normally . we will see. good luck.

So, not all of the bleach was gone before you rehighlighted?

If so, that's the problem. Bleaching your hair is one of the worst things you can do. It strips your hair of it's pigment, leaving it very thing and fragile. Your roots didn't react poorly because it's new growth, or virgin hair. But your ends, which were already very porous and frail, were processed again.

Honestly, there's not much you can do without going to a salon and having them help. The best thing would be a hair cut to get rid of the damage. Or just wait it out. Eventually, and it's a long eventually, your curls will come back.

I'm speaking from experience. I love being blond. My curls do not.

In the future, if you want to rehiglight, just do the new growth.
