Quick Summer $ Using My Curl Knowledge

Everyone knows how much products cost and I need more money. I'm only 13 and I used up most of my alowance money already (I have $11 left! Yikes!) I could always do the lemonade stand/baby-sitting thing but I thought I might use my hobbies to my advantage. Curls. I was thinking about making some unprofessional out-of-my-kitchen products and selling them to friends and neighbors. The more I thought about it the more I found out I had no idea what I was doing! Any tips from you older curly-girls would help out lots!

Good idea! Some more ideas:

- brown sugar scrub
- apple cider vinegar rinse
- deep treatments
- lavender spray
- flax seed gel

if you don't know how to make any of those i would def do a forum search. also without preservatives you'll have to refrigerate those, just fyi. good luck!

For these, they can generally be found at the grocery. Try and get the generic brand to save money.

For brown sugar scrub you just need conditioner and brown sugar. Get the granulated (non cubes) kind, which should be with the rest of the sugar.

ACV comes in big jugs--I just find it in my cupboard cuz my mom buys it.

Ingredients for DTs are like olive oil, bananas, honey, etc.

These I would reckon are only at WF. did you ask the staff?
For lavender spray your need essential lavender oil.

And for flax seed gel you need actual flax seeds. I've never actually made it meself, but I'm sure you could find the seeds if you asked someone at WF. they could probly direct you to another store if not.

You could always swap on the swap board so you trade stuff you don't like as much for new stuff to try.

To make flax seed gel, all you need are whole flax seeds. Flax seeds are pretty cheap. I remember paying about $3-$4.

You can also infuse oils and the apple cider vinegar with herbal teas. Go to the tea aisle and get natural teas. Chamomile and peppermint comes to mind. Be certain to read the ingredients to make sure the teas are purely herbs. Also, do a search online for herbs that great for hair.

Inexpensive oils you can use:

Olive (about $4 @ Walmart)
Castor (about $3 for 6 oz @ Walmart)
Coconut (about $9 for 16 oz @ Walmart)
