About lanolin... http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlreading/curly-q-a/curlchemist-learning-about-lanolin It's OK to use if in oil form, but not wax, or vice versa? If there's such a thing as PEG-modified lanolin, that's OK to use then? ... PEG-modified Hydrogenated; yes/no? ... Hydrogenated; no?

I can only attempt a sentence to entire article containing technical jargon so many times. I tend to make science & math things more difficult than need be. I need a tutor.

So all along I've just avoided anything containing the words Castor oil & lanolin just to be safe.

I don't have any science to back me up, so I'm just speaking from personal experience. I only co-wash, and I've never had any build-up issues from the PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil in LOOB. It is my understanding that the PEG-modification makes insoluble ingredients water-soluble. I wouldn't trust "hydrogenated" alone to mean the same thing.

From what I understand when I researched when I noticed a Queen Helene's oil treatment had lanolin and it was the second ingredient after PEG something. I don't know anything about oil vs. wax and hydrogenated. I wouldn't personally use anything waxy in my hair.

I def. decided not to use the treatment, many people caution against lanolin if it's a prominent ingredient and/or PEG isn't in front of it. How I decided- I put it on my skin first and it was really tough getting it off even with harsh soap. Imagine that in your hair. Lanolin is what keeps sheep's fur dry, so I def. don't think it's water soluble. If you are on the CG method probably not good.

Castor oil I don't know much about.
