Default Do you think curls make you look younger?

I flat ironed my hair today for the first time in several months. I just got the itch to do it. Now that it's done and all straight and smooth, I think it makes me look older. Not a good thing when you're already pushing 40. Am I the only one who thinks that straight hair makes them look older than curly hair? LOL!! And I thought my new facial routine was the cause, turns out it was just going curly that made me look younger!

While I'm not nearly as thrilled with my flat ironed look as I used to be, I just have to say OMG CHI silk infusion smells soooo good!!!

I definitely feel I look older with straight hair. Straight hair seems to make my face a focal point. I feel like every wrinkle and crevice I have is highlighted when I wear it straight.

I also feel younger looking with curly hair. And even more so when I have my bangs shorter and straight. (Trying to grow them out, not liking it so much...).
And I love the smell of the CHI silk infusion, I miss using it somedays.

YES!!! This is exactly what I mean!! For the past month I've been using jojoba and grapeseed oil on my face and I was soo happy with it! I thought, man, it's doing a great job! Then I straightened my hair and went OMG I look OLD!! It really does accentuate every single little line! I'm going out tonight and am actually debating wetting it down before I gobecause it's so shocking to me!

Yes, it pulls my face down. I need the fullness, especially since I've gotten older.

For me, I do look much younger with my hair curly, but this isn't necessarily a good thing... I have what is charmingly referred to as a "baby face" -- On my best day I look sixteen (I'm twenty-two). I'm about to go into graduate school and friends of my parents' ask me what grade I'm in. Straight, I still look young; curly, I look like Shirley Temple and people want to pinch my cheeks.

I've been told that I look younger when my hair is left curly. The first day I went CG was the first time I was carded in about 3 years.

I guess so, though it's tough to tell. If you check the Straight vs. Curly thread, you can see a lot of people do indeed look younger with curls.

I think I do too. When I was younger this wasn't such a good thing. Like when I was a teen, but now it's great. I think curls are more whimsical and spontaneous. Just another benefit of curls....someone should add it to the list.lol

Back on Cones,so now my routine is,wash with Deva No-Poo every other day or so. Occasionally use 365 sulfate free, maybe use low sulfate shampoo mixed with conditioner once every two weeks are longer. I condition with Aussie Moist or HEHH. I style with a little GF TN,and finish up with tons of GN Pure Clean Smoothing Cream. No frizz...slippy, happy hair.

My face looks harsher (angles, etc) with my hair straight. I also look more conservative that way, thus appearing "older".

I like being a chick!

I think I look younger with it straight, so long as it's not too long - then it drags my face down too much.

Unlike rudeechick I think the curls make my features look harsher and more angular, I guess because they're (the curls) not harsh and angular!

its different for different people depends on the shape of your face but i have noticed it makes young girls look older to straighten their hair. and older ladies look younger when they straighten their hair its an illusion don't rush it stay youth full as long as you can and enjoy it .......

Some studies within the beauty industry have shown women look an average of five years younger with curly hair as opposed to straight hair

I've noticed this too.

The one time my husband saw me with straight hair he said it made me look older. *shrug*

I know how you feel! I'm 20 and 3/4 the way to my bachelors degree, and get mistaken for a high schooler on a weekly basis. I just brush it off because I'm hoping it means that I'll be mistaken for a 20-something when I'm in my 30's.

Yes, because curls soften your features, whereas as straight hair make your features seem harsher like Rudee said. I have a long face and large nose, and if I wear my hair straight it will make my nose appear even larger and my face even longer. I am nineteen, and I haven't noticed if I look younger or older if I wear my hair curly or straight, but I definitely think straight hair makes my features look harsher and heightened, whereas curls make me look softer.
