Light hold v.s. Firm hold

I am hoping this question doesn't sound silly. I wonder if anyone else considers the difference when they buy products. Two for example are deva angell and arcangell ,also Max green alchemy styling gel and sculpting gel.

I keep all kinds of hold gel on hand and use them according to what look I'm going for. If I want more ringlets I go harder hold. If I want flowing waves I go light. I'm sure it has something to do with texture and porosity too I just don't pay too much attention to that personally for gel.

So does your hair come out of the shower in ringlets and then dry into waves?

No...I get ringlets if I scrunch and they stay with a hard hold gel, especially if I sit under R2D2 or diffuse. If I use a light gel I get tight waves with heat and loose waves If I air dry since the length of my hair is pulling out my curl pattern. If I use a hard hold gel and air dry I get the same results as a light hold with heat. I base it on what I have time for and how I want my hair to look.

I see, so the pull of the length of your hair is really what influences your styling procedure. I can understand. I look at ingredients, and compare these two, light and hard hold gels. For my hair I am not sure what I want, Like alot of days my hair looks good with only a leave in, I can even get a leave in to provide light hold. Probably lighter than a light hold gel. I guess I need to investigate more, Some curlies here should respond so I can hear others opinions about the decision making behind going for the lighter or the harder holding gels.
