I read this thread during the week, and picked up a satin cap from walmart today but I got the one with the drawstring instead of the wideband...is that going to matter? Thanks in advance!

I tried this once and didn't get the amount of curl that I normally do with pixiecurl diffusing. So the last couple days I tried again after pixiecurl diffusing for 5 minutes to set my curl. I dried with the bonnet upside down first, then rightside up. It worked great and cut my dry time incredibly!! I had beautiful curls, no frizz and my hair was actually dry within 2 hours of washing!!!!!
I'm one whose hair is still damp at bedtime if I let it airdry, so I'm always on the lookout for ways to dry hair quickly. Thanks so much Misfitcurls!
Hooray for the misfit method of blowdrying hair!!!!

I tried and I like it!
My hair was not as curly as when I pixiecurl diffuse, but it will be perfect for travel. Now I can be free of my dryer and two different diffusers (sad I know!).
Thanks for the idea!

Ok all you talented people, someone post a video of this method......please. I'm a visual person and need to see it to believe it.
Thanks

I actually read about this in one of my sister's hair magazines (he's a hairstylist) about 7 years ago. I tried it with horrible results. My hair came out all flat on the sides and back, just the ends stayed curly.

Tried it with ok results but what if there were little holes in the cap?
I knit (hense the Knitty name) and I have a pattern for a similiar shaped cap with little eyelet holes throughout. I thought with a fine cotton yarn and the little holes to allow a little more air and all the heat.....
What do you think?

I've been thinking the same thing, it certainly would seem to speed up drying. I like this method so I'm going to find a different mesh cap to use instead. If you knit more power to ya!

The reason I don't want the Granny net is cuz of the hair clips. They'll get caught and make a huge MESS.

Ah.. I haven't tried this method yet but didn't intend to clip when I did. So I never really thought about them being in the way.

If you don't clip you'll end up with flat head syndrome

I stopped clipping. I put my hair in the bonnet upside down and also dry with the bonnet on upside down and get pretty decent volume. When I clipped I was getting my clips caught while trying to put the bonnet on (probably because I was upside down). But just a suggestion for whatsercurl if you want to try without clipping. I do not have the amount of hair that Miss Del has so mine probably does not get squished down either.
I, also, have been thinking of a different cap -meshlike. So I am thinking the hair net might work (without clips of course).

this thread makes me MAD!!!
SOOOOOO FREAKIN MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so i try this, and guess what... IT WORKS WONDERFULLY!!! why am i mad you ask? because i have what could be the oldest blow drier in america. for the past year i've been debating on getting a new blow drier with those nifty diffusers but have hesitated because, well i'm not sure why but i have. now i've also have had a bonnet like this for yrs... that means i've been going yrs with the tools to do this, just not the noggin to think to put the two together... i'm so slow lmao
also, just as a heads up, dont make the mistake of drying all the way... there's some poo***e that happens with that (which is easily cured with a spray bottle of water)

I tried this today, and got really awesome curls!!!!!! Even better than when I take the time to pixie curl. I did get a bit more frizz, but it is also a really humid day, so I am going to try again..

xcptnl I've been using butterfly clips instead of metal ones and like them much better. I also intend to buy a mesh type hair thingy...I got one of those old fashioned triangle ones?? It worked well but I prefer a cap, just easier to deal with..
neekie maybe if you clip you'll hold onto your volume...I'm a big clippy fan can ya tell

hmmm
maybe... i'll try it tomorrow morning. also, because of the monsoon season approaching, i decided i need a lil more hold than usual (or like) so i got the garnier fructis curl sculpting cream-gel. i'm hoping since its a cream gel it wont feel like, well gel. i hate that whole crunchy stiff look of gel. but i also would prefer to not have a fro, and i decided this yr i will not do my "monsoon pony". so i will try the clips as well as the gel and i'll update yall

I tried this and had so so results. The front got all weird with wonky curls and waves, had to re-wet it, but the back and sides were super curly and it did dry fast. I can't figure out how you all get your hair in there without messing parts of it up. Please let me know how...??
I also have this bonnet from Sally's, satin on around the face and mesh on top (has a small ring so you can adjust it and make it longer or shorter, in other words tighter to the top of your head), really big with velcro closure so it's easy to get on without squashing your hair/curls. I think this might work better. Will try it next weekend and report back!
