I'm generally not someone who requires a lot of hold -- I can use KCCC by itself, and there are a lot of gels that I have a hard time scrunching out. But I would definitely not be able to use FOTE by itself. My hair always feels amazing when I use it -- it scrunches out easily and because it's so moisturizing my hair feels incredibly soft, but never overconditioned. But within minutes all the FOTE is gone and my hair goes crazy if I don't use something else to tame it.
Lately I've been using a generous amount of KY (I'm too cheap to spring for CK and KY seems to work just fine) with FOTE over it -- combed in and then scrunched upside down. I still haven't mastered combining it with KCCC because I can't figure out which one should go on the first layer ( KCCC because it always works best directly on the curls? Or FOTE because it makes my hair soft and otherwise has no real hold?). Anyway, I love FOTE and I'm trying to combine it with everything so I can use it all the time. I'm thinking you could probably also apply it directly to your hair and then put a gel over it for extra hold.
