Thick, wiry curlies!

Here's the thread that RCC started about Lustrasilk you'll see a nice list of all the Lustrasilks and which to avoid.

Spill the beans! Tell me how you use Lustrasilk

there's only 2 that are CG and don't contain Mineral oil or other yucky stuff. It's the Olive oil or the Shea Mango.

Tiffany suggests olive oil for coarse hair but I think it's too heavy to wash out and messy
What about looking for conditioners with olive oil? I think thats part of the reason I like DEVA One-C. Have you ever tried mixing some Olive Oil into your regular conditioner?

Recoil Ingreds: Aqeous extracts of sage, nettle, chamomile, hops, rosemary balm mint, yarrow, cherry bark, lemongrass and calendula, polyquarternum 55, hydroxpropl starch, cetyl alcohol, stearalkonium chloride, stearyl starch modified, cetrimonium chloride, NaPCA, Polyquaternium-10, magnesium sulfate, silk amino acids, cocdimonium hydroxypropyl hydrolyzed hair keratin, panthenol, tetrasodium EDTA, Fragrance, Methyl-chloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone.

there are those amino acids again I never noticed that before, I remember seeing the Keratin but it was further down so I didn't think it would matter. I wonder now if the reason I can't use Recoil too often is the combination of the proteins plus the mag sulphate......interesting....

RCC what has been your experience with Amino Acids? I've noticed that some products will list Wheat Amino Acids Separate from Amino Acids. Unless the double dose is more bothersome?? I know Deva NO Poo lists both and I can't use that through the length of my hair or it gets straw like. EO condish only list Amino Acids far down the list.....

Gettin-the links to iherb will show you the ingredients of EO conditioners. They do contain Amino Acids but they aren't high on the list and don't bother me at all. Wheat Amino acid different story..my hair reacts the same way as it does with Soy Protein and Wheat proteins. We all need some protein so maybe the small doses in BRHG, LVPNG and EO are mine. I don't do any DT protein treatments. You may not want to discount it off the bat.....

My hair reacted to the Oils in JC with Straw-like, very dry hair.

I don't actually like my hair to feel too soft or anything, it is coarser and wiry by its nature (at least most of it is) and I like when it feels like it has structure.

So I like conditioners to make it slippery, and smoother, but not soft.
Robin this is how I feel as well, I'm also wiry by nature so too soft= losing definition or being OC'd

Of course, like anything else, some people can tolerate certain types and not others, and some people can tolerate them low down on the list, but not high up.
Kiva! Microfinance works.

Med/Coarse, porous curly.
Ouidad mentions in her book that glycerin is a natural humectant made of vegetable amino acids. Helps seal in moisture, keeps products from drying out, provides spreadability to products for even application.

Hhhmmm maybe that is another reason my hair doesn't seem to like glycerin high on the list.

Ouidad mentions in her book that aloe has superconditioning amino acids.

Maybe that is why my hair doesn't like aloe.
