Default What is the best...

Protein intensive (and I mean intensive) conditioner/leave-in/styler, etc.? I'm desperated to get my hair back tino a semi-normal state after bleaching the hell out of it and coloring it twice. Here's what I've got in my little hoard.

Joico KPak
Structur Fort (it's kind of a DT, but normalizes the hair. I can only use once a week.
Redken CAT reconstructor
Redken Anti-snap

I am following up with moisture, promise.

Anyone have any ideas?

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.

No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

If you want to go hard core, check out the Aphogee treatment - the long one, not the two minute one. There is a long thread about it on the 4a board.

I haven't tried this but the Cherrylola treatment got rave reviews. I know it's another DT not a styler or condish but it could help.

And where might one find the aphogee? Please tell me sally's. I need to run down there for some Joico knockoff and some Biolage knockoff.

Default CHI

Have had good luck with the keratin-based CHI Protein Leave-in Spray. I use it a couple of times a week, no more or I get a little "crunchy".

Well, you are in luck, it's at Sally's!

I've done this tweaked a bit from kathymack's recipe (on page 2 of the thread). It worked fabulously.

Not a styling product but great for a bi-weekly treatment. I have yogurt in house anyway, but I had to buy the Bragg's. In Canada, it's marketed as soy sauce so I can use it for my hair or cooking.

I looked at that at the beauty supply store, but couldn't justify the price with the stuff I'd already purchased. Do they have a knockoff at Sally's?

Yessssss! Is this more hardcore than Joico KPak? I've tried KPak a couple of times and I'm still getting about 5" worth of stretch.

I feel that the Aphogee is *the* hardcore treatment. Do read the thread though. It isn't just a simple DT; it's a long process, lol.

ETA: I like the Kpak and use it myself, which makes me think it isn't all that hard core, more medium. Hard core is too much for me, lol.

Sorry - no Sally's here - don't know if you can find a knock-off...

Curse. I was at Sally's and saw a CHI knockoff and it said silk infusion with a blurb underneath that says Enrich hair with pure silk wheat & soy protein. So I bought it thinking this was what you were talking about. Oh, well. I'll keep it or hand it off to my sister.

I did the Aphogee treatment and it seems to have improved the hair. Awesome! I even asked at Sally's if they have the Nexxus Emergencee and they said no.

Thanks everybody for the suggestions!

I was wondering how it would work for you. It is pretty hard core, and it is funny to imagine it hardening on a head.

Yeah, it's quite an interesting product and a challenge to rinse it all out. It takes literally 5+ minutes of rinsing just to get the crunchiness factor out of it. Then I mixed a little shampoo with conditioner and shampood and followed up with the moisture treatment it came with. My hair feels almost normal except it feels a bit dry. Probably too much protein and not enough moisture. I'm SMRT and have only been using a protein leave-in. Obviously need to used moisture, too.

When they say this stuff dries hard...They mean it. I used my soft bonnet dryer while surfing the net and could barely get the bonnet off. I picked up a piece and swear it would have broken off if I had tried to fold it. But it worked! Mikey likes it!

Wow.

I always find it interesting when someone uses it. And, with your schooling, your POC becomes even more interesting. I will have to see if you blog about it, lol

I'm glad that it seemed to help though!

Never thought about blogging about it. I'll do it! Just give me a couple days.
