2nd day hair

I woke up today with 2nd day hair! In a fog I went to the kitchen to mix up my honey rinse, but when I got the the bathroom and looked in the mirror I realized that my hair looked great!! So, I poured the honey rinse into a spray bottle, spritzed on a little, and voila!! 2nd day hair! This is the first time it's happened since I started CG again.

Just thought I would share my excitement!

Yes, please do! Along with how much you diluted it. Congrats!

Same here--my hair looks crappy the second day, and I always have to re-wet and apply a rinse-out conditioner on days I don't wash.

Out of curiosity, what do you typically do to get 2nd-day hair? And do you have to re-wet/condition entirely? Is 3rd or even 4th day hair possible without re-wetting/conditioning?

ellageorgina 05-29-2009 01:11 PM

That's exactly what I was wondering, because it's just so much EFFORT re-wetting, re-styling and re-drying/waiting for hair to dry.
My only issue is the drying time. i don't have all that time to wait for it to dry in the mornings.
To get 2nd day hair do you have to sleep with hair up/down? Or do you have to do some kind of preparations before bed??

Suburbanbushbabe 05-29-2009 01:23 PM

Congratulations!

I can get 2nd day hair at least once a shampoo cycle. I shampoo every 4-5 days, I don't do anything special to it at night, just lightly spritz with a leave-in in the morning - I love ICON Cure and Alterna - or I mist with water and smooth in a teeny bit of regular conditioner, scrunch and diffuse for a couple minutes.
I've found that I can get 2nd day hair more often the healthier my hair is.

ellageorgina 05-29-2009 05:59 PM

Ah okay, well i'll just have to try to get my hair reallly healthy it seems. I'm pretty new to CG-ing and already it looks 100000x healthier!
I'm going to boots tomorrow so i'll see what kind of things i can use at night to put my hair up in, I'm thinking some kind of clip.
Scrunchies really don't work for me so the whole pineapple thing kind of failed :( because my hair is pretty short and has layers as you might be able to see from my avatar.
How does everyone wear their hair at night?

PrettyMedusa 05-29-2009 07:00 PM

EllaGeorgina, I have fine hair so the scrunchy thing doesn't work for me. I just use a ponytail holder. I haven't really seen results but not only am I new to CG, I discovered I had a cone in my rinse-out, so it's back to square one with me.

Funny thing--I used to get 2nd day hair quite frequently a few years ago when I used non-SLS shampoo and products that I am fairly certain are silicone-free. I would usually just put some spritz in and that would be enough. These days, my hair looks and feels fluffy and flat the next day, even if I had great hair the day before. :?:

before I had my hair relaxed (the relaxer has all grown out now) a few years ago, i also used to get 2nd day hair... I've just found that the aloe gel has dried my hair out a lot :S i thought it was supposed to be moisturising.
i will try a ponytail holder, I dont know what one is but i will look for one :joker: :

PrettyMedusa 05-30-2009 01:00 PM

Hey Ella, a ponytail holder is just one of those standard rubber bands for hair that you can find pretty much anywhere. They vary as far as how much hair they'll hold--the thicker ones tend to be not as elastic, so they're good for thinner/finer hair. I like the thinner ones, though, because they don't hurt your head as much.

I have short hair now too with layers but I still pineapple at night. The layers that fall down I just bobby pin back into place, making sure not pin tight. The next morning, if I have frizz, I use CJ Aloe Fix with a little water and smooth over my canopy and twist curls that have lost their shape. Voila!!

ellageorgina 05-30-2009 02:26 PM

I bought ponytail holders today :)
And i also went and bought a 'net slumber cap'
has anyone tried these?
