Can someone please help w/ protein questions?
I had thought the newbie forum might be the best place for this but I got no responses. I hope maybe this is a better place.
I've read a TON of threads over the past few days and I think my head is swimming with information. Problem is, I think I need simple layman's terms until I get the hang of this.
I'd say I have mostly 3a, a bit of 3b curl type. I am clueless about porosity. I do at-home color maybe once every 6 months, never any bleaching (I'm a dark brunette). I'd say average texture, not thin or thick (used to be thicker but lost a lot last year for nutritional reasons and it's finally growing back in). My hair is not coarse, it is not dry (despite my winter of flat ironing, thank goodness), it is not prone to breakage. If I slide my fingers up the hair strand, it doesn't "catch" much.
Actually I say it's not dry but what I mean is, it's not straw-like. When it is straight, it's quite soft and unfrizzy. I am sure I could do with some better conditioning and want to showcase my curls though, hence my switch to CG.
My most basic question is, with all the info here, can someone please send me in the right direction regarding conditioners, especially DT. I am using GTTTT as my co-wash and rinse out at the moment because I just started last weekend. I'd like to get a different rinseout/leave in and use GTTTT primarily as my co-wash (I have itchy scalp and the tea tree really seems to be helping). I also live in Florida (very humid). As for deep conditioners, how do I know if I should use protein? Or rather, if I *shouldn't*? I don't want to over-condition and likewise I don't want to use something that will react badly with high humidity.
ANY advice is appreciated. Thank you!
