AOHR - Coconut Fatty Acid Cream Base?

Did anyone ever figure out what the heck a "Coconut Fatty Acid Cream Base" is? Would it be a protein of sorts? Last time I tried AOHR, I seemed to get that protein-overload feeling after a couple washes. I want to try it again because, yes, the LOOB is starting to show its drying effects... but I love the curl I'm getting, LOL!

Thoughts?

We've been discussing that lately on various threads.

From what I can find, it is a fatty alcohol, but may have other stuff. I'm sure you can find recent threads on it if you search.

Does jojoba bug you? It could be that too.

I didn't care for that cond but I found this info from this site:

www.aubrey-organics.com/custom.aspx?id=60#coconutfattyacidcreambase

COCONUT FATTY ACID CREAM BASE Absorption base containing essential fatty acids, coconut fatty alcohols from palm kernels, aloe vera and vitamins A, C and E. Rich in linoleic and linolenic acids (vitamin F), excellent nutrients and skin conditioners. In hair care products, it is often combined with the important amino acids cysteine and methionine, which are high in sulfur and excellent for the hair and scalp.

This is why I wish products, whether from standard companies or small cottage ones had to adhere to INCI standards. I want a more clear idea of what I am using.

OOO great site to book mark! Thanks for the linky! Red have you tried mixing some Biolage with AOHR? I recently tried AOWC and was pleasantly surprised that it didn't weigh me down or leave me stringy....I mixed mine with ONE-C but the possibilities are endless :D Laura Lee started a thread during the Winter about mixing AOHR with LVPNG and got great results.

I don't use the Biolage because I don't like myristal alcohol.

ETA: Nevermind. Duh, you meant the other red.

DEL2C 05-31-2009 07:07 PM

:laughing7: RCC you're RCC you're not ever just RED

what's the deal with myristal alcohol RCC why don't you like it???? I thought this would be a great emollient rich ingredient, fabu for us coarse curlies......I used it today as a matter of fact! It works better for me when my hair is longer as opposed to freshly cut but I really like it!

redcelticcurls 05-31-2009 07:16 PM

See, I am having another Duh moment. Of course i'm RCC. :eye:

Myristal alcohol is a fatty one and can be good in general. But, it is oddly drying on me, and I am not sure why. I just avoid it. Jaemaria first gave me a clue because she said that it was drying on her.

Before I found Aubrey and Kinky Curly, I was using a protein free line that was heavy on the myristal alcohols. It started out great, but then became very drying. for the life of me I could not figure it out until I read about Jaemaria's experience. I cut that ingredient out from regular use and it seemed to help.
