Cutting my own hair for funsies! *UPDATE* Pg. 2 Pictures

I used to cut my Barbies hair and they all ended up with crewcuts - I could not stop on them either.

@ Aerohead - ITA about saving money & not being overly stressed about how a self-cut goes after you've done it a few times. At this point, I'm like "It's just hair, it will grow back. And if it looks awful, I can play around with cute accessories and pin it back."

Finally got my camera back and took some photos today. Thank you all for the compliments and encouragement, you are all lovely! Different products give more obviously different results on shorter hair, it seems. Today I used a tiny dab of Giovanni Direct Leave-In, Komaza Coconut Curl Pudding, and BRHG, which made my curls really shiny and uniform. Using LOOB instead of the Komaza & BRHG gives more volume and smaller, more piecy curls, and make the bob look more angled. Fun stuff.

Wow, I love your hair like this a lot. It used look great, too, but this cut makes your curls look really clumpy and soft. Very nice. Well done girl!

Opera_Curls,
Your hair looks great! Good job on the cut.. very cute.
Wow, really really cute! I have to go to a stylist to get mine cut since it's in an inverted bob now. I don't know how to cut it like this. I'm really tempted to chop it like yours A:because it's cute, and B: because I could cut my own hair again...sigh...

How are you styling it? Do you part it, or let it part on its own? Scrunch upside down? Clip? Do tell.

My curls do seem to be a lot happier at this length. They've always "boinged" but only the last two inches or so - everything above it was more of an S-pattern because the length dragged out the curl.

And really, you're so beautiful you could pull off just about anything, so don't worry about it!

Styling: After washing & conditioning, I apply a leave-in in the shower & flip my head upside down & comb it, to encourage clumping and volume. Squish out some of the water, then scrunch in styling product(s) the way Mysteryflavored does in her KCCC video. Blot with microfiber towel, plop 10-20 minutes, and let the part do whatever it wants to. I usually move a curl or two from one side of the part to the other if I want my bangs off to the side.

HTH, and thanks again for all of the compliments.

Well, your pics inspired me yesterday, opera. I went to snipping and cut anywhere from half an inch to two inches off here and there. It was so liberating! So, now my inverted bob is gone, and my hair is back to more of a regular bob. And, it's so much more even and looks so much better. I had lots of hair growing back in which made my curls look bad. Now, they are much happier and boingier.

Thanks for your routine. I've been thinking of combing upside down. I just scrunch in my conditioner upside down and yesterday just finger parted a tad. I'm happy with the results.
