Thumbs down I really wish I liked it

So after all the raves on here about Loreal's Vive Pro line, I have been itching to try it. I was hesitant because of the cones, but I finally figured since I am using a low-poo almost daily, that it would be ok. I got the hydra vive conditioner (the one in the gold bottle) instead of the nutri vive (in the pink bottle) because the nutri vive did not agree with my nose. Well, I have to report that I am not impressed. It leaves my hair stringy with hardly a clump in sight and it's almost impossible to SOTC. Did anyone else have this problem? I hate to waste the whole bottle (I bought the bigger one), but I guess I will just have to go back to my $1 bottle of VO5. Oh well, at least my wallet won't complain.

I'm not aware of anyone really liking anything from L'Oreal's Vive Pro EXCEPT for the specifically CG one in the pink bottle for medium/long curly/wavy hair. All the others have 'cones, and depending on the type of low poo you're using, you may not remove all the 'cones, which will cause stringiness in some folks (like me!).

Is this the one you got?

Ingredients:
Water - Aqua , Cetearyl Alcohol , Behentrimonium Chloride , PEG-180 , Amodimethicone , Cetyl Esters , Fragrance - Parfum , Glycerin , Methylparaben , Hydroxyethylcellulose , Olive Fruit Oil - Olea Europaea Oil , Trideceth-6 , Citric Acid , Chlorhexidine Dihydrochloride , Cetrimonium Chloride , Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone , Coumarin , Safflower Glucoside , Royal Jelly/Royal Jelly Extract , Yellow 5 - CI 19140 , Yellow 6 - CI 15985

That amodimethicone doesn't do anything good for my hair, so that could be an issue for you too. It's interesting that they have the PEG-180 before it, then list the amodimethicone after a comma. Seems to me that means the 'cone is just soluble in the solution and not when on your hair, but I could be wrong.

Nose aside, it's the ingredients that count when going CG.

This is the popular one (Nutri Gloss Conditioner for Medium to Long Hair That's Curly/Wavy):

Ingredients:
Water (Agua), Behentrimonium Chloride, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil, Glycerin, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Fragrance (Parfum), Octyldodecanol, Methylparaben, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Citric Acid, Myristyl Alcohol, Chlorhexidine Dihydrochloride, Limonene, Hexyl Cinnamal, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Linalool, Citronellol, Alpha Isomethyl Ionone, Hydrolyzed Conchiolin Protein, Red 33 (CI 17200)

HTH!

yeah...that's the culprit.

hmmm...I could have SWORN that the ingredients list on the pink bottle also listed amodimethicone...I will have to check that out again.

You know so much more than me about ingredients and I just don't have the patience to read all those chemical names and learn what they all are and what they do.

So I guess the moral of this story is....if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I guess I can always pass off the vive stuff to my sister...she doesn't discriminate when it comes to cones.

Don't feel too bad - there are a couple different PINK L'Oreal Vive Pro conditioners, and it's easy to get the wrong one. Sometimes a store won't even carry the Medium/Long Curly/Wavy one!

the large pink one for Long/Wavy hair appears to have been discontinued replaced by the smaller bottle with the A-cone

Interesting - I keep seeing it around here... and it seems to be available online still. Bummer!

I don't think it's been replaced. I think there are two different formulas, one being for curly/wavy hair. If the people stocking the shelves aren't paying good enough attention, it would be really easy for them to miss the difference and stock with the wrong one. The first time I looked for it here, I thought nobody carried it. Yesterday I found it easily in a place that hadn't had any when I'd looked before.

All those L'Oreal conditioners are too stinky! Besides, there are plenty more fish in the sea.
