KCCC + producty feel

So I jumped on the bandwagon and got myself a tub of KCCC. Now, I know (maybe just a strong sense of hope) that I can make this work for me. As I scrunch it in I can SEE the marvelous curls I am getting. However, as it dries my hair begins to get weighed down and my curls become a bit frizzy (more than usual) and in the end my hair just feels WAY too producty.

I apply it a la mysteryflavored's video. I started off with the three finger scoop, brought it down to two, and even down to one. Now, I've used it with a curl creme underneath (knock-off of redken ringlets) and HESMU on top. I've also tried KCCC + HESMU, KCCC + HETT, and KCCC by itself. I've never tried it with a leave-in because I've never used a leave-in and my hair gets overconditioned VERY easily so I'm a bit hesitant.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I just bought some BRHG, and I have CK. Would CK + KCCC + BRHG be too much? What are your favorite combos when using KCCC and how much do you use of each?

I have fine 2c/3a hair, not sure of the porosity (never really understood that).
I would give it a shot with the BRHG on top. I'm struggling a bit with KCCC right now, although it was my winter HG. I find that if I get too much in the wrong places, I'll definitely look weighed down. I was using it as described in my siggy (Lustrasilk, KCCC, BRHG).

Maybe finger comb or brush through the KCCC then scrunch? Might get it better distributed. Good luck!

My first several times with KCCC gave me results like you describe. Mysteryflavored's video definitely helped me but I also discovered other tricks that have helped me and you can read about them here:

Keep at it! It's weird stuff but once you master it, you'll be glad you did.

ReddishRocks- thanks! I'm trying the KCCC + BRHG combo tonight and will finger-comb the KCCC through. One of the problems definitely seems to be rooted back to uneven distribution.

Jillipoo- I remember reading that a while ago, before I had purchased KCCC, and once I had it I couldn't find that page anymore (go figure!). Thank you so much, I have now bookmarked it haha. I've been applying it to soaking wet hair so I'll try scrunching some of the excess water out next time
And these days I even towel out some of the moisture before applying my KCCC/BRHG mix. (Not too much, though. Another delicate balance....) Results are excellent!

As posted above, this also works the best for me when I have taken a lot of water out of my hair after showering. I usually plop for 15 minutes or so. The biggest thing I have found for my hair is that less is definitely more. I just stick one finger in and scoop out a wee bit. Then I wet my hands and emulsify, and work through hair. It seems ridiculous that it works, but the tiny amount I use is like a miracle for my hair.
Along with the advice posted above, there may be some information in this thread.

Less is more with this stuff for me.

Great tips jilli.

This is a good thread. Thanks for the links. I'm currently revisiting KCCC since I'm stubborn and am determined to make it work. I tried it about a year ago and ended up selling my tub on the swap board cause I just couldn't get it to work.

My biggest issue with KCCC is getting it to distribute evenly. I end up getting just enough in some sections, not enough in others (that end up frizzy) and too much in others (that end up looking producty). I also find that using it without a leave in makes it way harder to distribute since it has almost no slip for me that way. I tried it again today for the first time in a long while and even though my hair is still wet, so far it looks good. We'll see how it looks once it's all dry.

I use KCCC and get perfect results every time. I don't apply it like on mystery's video because it makes my hair look terrible.
I do a rinse out conditioner then
1) lustasilk as a leave-in/curl creme, scrunch
2) sister smith's wshp as a moisturiser, more scrunching
3) tiny amounts of KCCC all over (like half a pea size) sometimes i will section for even distribution (only 3 sections) LESS IS MORE!
4) labella lots of curls gel - 1 pea size amount for each side, just lightly rubbed over the canopy.

I also did a cold water rinse today, and that = no frizz.
