What did you put in your hair today, and did you like it?

Um, nothing, lol.

It did just fine.

Thursday evening I used EO Rosemary Mint condish as rinse out, pea size of SheaM as leave-in. I used a floursack towel to scrunch some moisture out. I scrunched in a combo of Bioterra Gel and HESMU together, 1st a half dollar size blob on the right, then left and upside down. I plopped for 15 min, clipped roots, let air dry for a few hours, pineappled and slept in a satin bonnet. I had a pretty good hair day this morning with clumps of nice defined waves. I just spritzed my hair with some refresher spray and put a few bobby pins up at the roots. It looked good pretty much the whole day. I did have a little surface frizz by the end of the day but dew points have been high.

Attempted to detangle with AO Rosa Mosqueta. Didn't like it. I should know better than to use a protein detangler. Duuuh.

AOHR to get rid of the protein dryness. I always love this stuff.

AOWC as a leave in. OK. I pick up my Curl Junkie this weekend Thank God. I usually use the Curl Rehab as a leave-in.

KCCC. Lovely as always for definition and moisture.

I tried a new gel on top of the KCCC since dews were 65-72 today. I used Joico JoiGel Firm.

If I would have noticed the Aquage ingredients first i would have bought that instead since it appears to be protein free. The JoiGel has keratin - the same type of keratin that is in my protein treatment, so I figured that I could handle it. It also has a PEG modified cone, so I get the polymers that I like in high dew points along with the anti-humectant properties of a silicone, which, as a bonus, is water soluble.

Ingredients:

Water (Aqua), VP/VA Copolymer, Hydrolyzed Keratin (Quadramine Complex), Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Keratin, PEG-8 Dimethicone, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Oleth-20, Tetrasodium EDTA, Triethanolamine, Benzohenone-4, Propylene Glycol, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Benzyl Benzoate, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Fragrance (Parfum).

"JoiGel™ Firm
Designed for: firm-hold gel styling
Benefits:
Provides excellent support, control and shine for styling without flaking.
UV protectants condition and protect against daily environmental stress.
Maximum styling control, body and shine to support hard-to-hold hair"

It worked nicely to give frizz protection over the KCCC. It did dry crunchy, but it all scrunched out easily, and my curls are soooofffftttttttt. I think the combo of the KCCC moisture and the silicone does something for me. Dew point is 70 right now and all is holding up well.

It is less crispy than I remember the BRHG being, and I don;t know if it's hold is as hard when it comes right down to it.

Since I had no adverse reactions, it goes to week long testing before I declare it a keeper!

First time using a homemade soap bar, ACV rinse, Suave Green Apple rinse out, KCKT/KCCC brushed through with the Denman, more KCCC and scrunched. Plop, diffuse, clip, air dry, uncrunch. Pretty tight defined curls. I hope to get a few days out of this combo!

Washed with Tigi Peace Love and the Planet shampoo, finger combed Tigi Peace Love and the Planet leave in (no rinse out conditioner), shook my hair out in the shower, finished showering. Mixed a two to three knuckle blob of CJ AFG (yes, it was a bit too much AFG) with a puddle of CK in my hand, finger combed/raked through, scrunched, let dry, and shook out once dry. Great sproingy curls!

UPDATE: This is officially the curliest my hair has ever air dried. It's curled up to the roots! I think the new TIGI stuff is the bomb!!

After not loving the results of my CK and Innersense experiment, I co-washed again this morning with Giovanni TTT, used Biolage Bodifying Conditioner as my rinse-off, Biolage Conditioning Balm as the leave-in, then Re:Coil and BRHG to style. SOTC with a teeny bit of AVG rubbed all over my hands.

I was back to loving my hair. Well, I was until my husband sat down behind me, shoved his hands into my hair and raked up through the back of head. When I glared at him all he said was, "nothing is sacred" and shuffled off. He's lucky he's adorable.

Walking in the rain for a couple of hours led to serous frizz later, but that was to be expected. Now my hair is tied up in a silk scarf and I'm hoping for second day hair.

A ponytail holder and a flower clip. I had too much frizz for second day hair and some friends unexpectedly stopped by so I resorted to my hair puff. It wasn't that bad actually.

The rare (for me) water wash
KBB milk mixed 50:50 with aloeba
my homemade FSG mixed 50:50 with seamollient
princess glaze after plopping

LOVED IT! Amazing definition and good hold despite the wind and humidity.

Co-washed with GTTTT.
Stupidly used Giovanni Smooth As Silk conditioner, totally not realizing it had protein in it... (I'm so dense )
Scrunched with HESMU gel.
Died of frizz the next morning.

Getting thrid day hair from the KCCC/JoiGel combo.

Humidity levels are quite reasonable today with dewpoints in the low 60s.

But, I'm going to wash my car and change my oil, so it'll be bunned later.
Kiva! Microfinance works.

Med/Coarse, porous curly.
Last night I co-washed with Suave Naturals coconut.
Then did an ACV rinse. Then used wide-tooth comb to comb in Burt's Bees Hair Repair conditioner. Rinsed that out, and combed in coconut oil. Combed in LA Looks gel, scrunched, plopped 5-10 mins, then diffused just to get the worst of the wet hair out of the way. Pineapple w/ damp hair & slept on it.

This morning it was still a teensy bit damp in the midst of the pineapple, but was soft and non-crunchy. Nice big curls today, good clumps, and almost no frizz despite the rain. Needed no SOTC, no refreshing with water, etc.. Best hair day ever. This was the first time I tried using a comb to distribute conditoner/product and it seemed to work well.

Of course I'm stuck at home with no one to admire it (good hair is completely lost on the children). Ain't that the way it always goes.
I had a horrifying hair day. It is already oiled and up in a ponytail, that's how bad it was.

Conditioner: EO Rose & Chamomile
Leave-in: KBB nectar

I knew before trying these stylers together than they weren't likely to work for me, but a person here with hair that seems similar to mine had great luck with it, so I thought I'd try. HORRIBLE.

Jillipoo, what do you think was the problem with your combo?

You did the same thing I did earlier in the week, lol, using something that probably wouldn't work but hoping it did.

Was your combo more successful?

It did work out quite well.

I'll wet my hair tomorrow and try again. Dews will be low upper 50s low 60s so I may not even need it, but I want to test it out some more to see if the keratin will be OK in a longer term use situation.

It's interesting how two single products can be liked, but the two may not combine well.

I was actually at a straight-haired friend's house last night, and we went swimming last night. Needless to say, she didn't have silicone-free conditioners, so I put on a silicone conditoner-water mix (like that helped, pfft), put it up in a bun, and this morning it looked average.
So, I put in chlorine and silicone. (:
