Are any of you porous curlies trying things besides hard hold gels?

I'm thinking along the lines of acv rinses and similar and protein treatments for those who can handle them. My reasoning is that anything helping to keep the cuticle down should help with frizz reduction.

I still don't understand why you aren't getting humectant induced frizz with honey in these high dews.

But, hey, whatever works!
Kiva! Microfinance works.

I have absolutely no idea RCC. It seems that the higher the Dew the better it works When the dews are 50's it doesn't work the same. Obviously in Low dews it was a mess. Maybe because CK keeps the frizz away?

ETA: I'm rarely ever totally frizz free though, that's just the nature of this beast on my head. I just don't see "increased" frizz it's actually LESS. If I don't use Honey I'm poofy.

It is Protein free. I'd love to hear more feedback on it, so far it doesn't "sound" like it's as hard hold as BRHG. I wish it wasn't so darn expensive or I'd give it a go. I hate to plop $13 on a gel that ends up being yet "another" Med hold for my hair.

It does have the polymer high up, and it also has the anti-humectant in the castor oil.

I see Floridians using it, so I have hope that it does have some hold.

Del, I'm not good at comparing relative gel strengths - I couldn't tell ya!

Second day hair came out well today, if big (and short!). I fotki'd it.

I had some canopy frizz this morning. I grazed a couple of pea sized dabs of JoiGel (since it says it can be used on dry hair) over everything and then used my KCGP (KC Gloss Pomade).

Dew point is 66 right now, and is expected to hover around 70 in the sticky mid to late afternoon.

Obviously, I can find co-polymers in both, Propylene Glycol is lower on the AMG, Castor oil is anti-humectant but not sure if it adds hold or not.... That's about as far as I can get. I know you had said that Panthenol doesn't agree with you cuz it's drying that's a Plus for AMG as well in your case and the absence of Protein. The silk proteins don't bother me I've used it in other stylers...What to do WHAT to do....

Sigh.........I may have to get this gel and take one for the team! I can even get it locally........

Hey, I'm taking one for the team on the JoiGel since I found precious little on it.

You can take one for the Aquage.

If it fails, it should be easily swappable.

Panthenol does give me weird dry frizz so I try to avoid it. I had the old school BRHG from a few years ago and haven't used the newer one.

It's not BRHG hard, but I seem to be doing well enough with it. As long as the poof and frizz is reasonable, I'm happy.

And, if it fails, there's always the Aquage!

Finally I found a way to use the darn stuff. I had MUCH less frizz than I've had lately and I didn't even use much in the way of a styler, just a few puddles of Gel-les'c (I was lazy). I also cold water rinse at the end of every wash and that has made an improvement. I'm trying to find other ways of getting rid of frizz instead of hard hold gels because they just weigh down my curls now that my hair is so long.

I actually haven't used the Aquage gel since I reviewed it last Del but I will today to see how it does in higher dews. Remember that I did get more volume from it than BRHG and so did cfry and laurabeth so I don't know if the Mega would be what you are looking for. Rudee tried the defining if I remember correctly. KM has samples of both still. Did you ever try the AG Hard Jel Extra-Firm Hold that laurabeth talks about in your Aquage thread?

RCC I'm def interested to see if the Keratin in the JoiGel starts to give you a problem.

Are all of you that are battling the dew point frizz monster porous??? I always thought I was porous, but the floaty test and the smooth-feel test and the fact that my hair stays wet forever has convinced me that my hair has very low porosity. I just CAN"T use that Dr Bronners rinse, but ACV works well...hard gels aren't even doing a darn thing for me this summer...anything with high glycerin and alot of aloe is again wreaking havoc on my head-just when I made friends with them...I'll be watching this thread, but I don't think a new gel will help me to much...
I'm pretty porous and the frizz I've been experiencing has been unreal. I honestly can't get anything to work. It's pretty much rained through most of June in Jersey. It's just sticky and gross. I'm in a bun today cause I give up.
