how do you know if you're using too much protein?

I know I was told at one point that your hair gets hard and brittle, and i don't think that's the case (yet) but right now, I am using shampoo and conditioner with protein (abba moisture scentsation), and DM CCB and then abba pure finish gel on top, and today my hair doesn't feel right...kind of producty and dry and frizzy...am i overdoing the protein? I have fine hair, it likes protein as far as i know anyway

Dry and frizzy could be protein, but it could be other things too, like too many humectants for your dew point, product build up, etc.

Portein tends to feel like straw, although it can feel brassy for me in the early stages.
Kiva! Microfinance works.

Med/Coarse, porous curly.
If I use too much protein my hair begins to feel straw-like dry and tangles easily. My ends begin to feel the effects of too much protein first. It happened the other day because I did two protein treatments too close together.

LOL, i guess it feels strawish, it feels yucky, just yucky... it doesn't really feel yucky in the shower after i shampoo and condition, it has nice slip at that point...Maybe i should back off on the abba shampoo/conditioner...

Sounds a little like my hair last week. I had tried some BRHG, because I bought it to sample. It made my hair feel producty and it was frizzy. The soap bars didn't remove it. I actually took a little of the Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap (about two or three ) and added it to a heavier rinse out conditioner. It took whatever it is out. I used the baby mild.

INGREDIENTS: Water, Saponfied Organic Coconut Oil*, Saponified Organic Olive Oil*, Organic Glycerin, Organic Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil, Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Citric Acid, Tocopherol (Vit. E), * Certified Fair Trade by IMO
Dr. Bronners

The ingredients are not unlike my soap bars, so I don't know why it's "stronger." But it worked.

KM that's so odd considering you can use some of the worst proteins like Wheat without any issues. I can use BRHG without any problems. I wonder if it was something else in BRHG?

I don't get that "too much" protein feeling because I pretty much know which ones give me the straw-like, brittle feel. Wheat, Soy, Keratin. Keratin takes a few times of usage whereas Wheat & Soy it's immediate.

Del, mine wasn't a protein issue. My hair loves protein. It had to be something else. My hair felt "coated." Not dry at all. Just disgusting and weighted down, but not oily or greasy.
