so I've been experimenting. Not very well though. I'm not very good at it.... ahem.
Anyway, I did something last week that was definitely an improvement. I did a coconut oil DT. I did this because of the curl chemist article here
"Generally, molecules with a straight chain geometry (saturated fatty acids), such as stearic acid, lauric acid, and palmitic acid can easily fit through the pores of the cuticle layer and slither through the CMC and into the interior of the cortex. Recent spectroscopic studies have allowed scientists to confirm that monounsaturated fatty acids are also able to readily penetrate the interior of the hair via this route. However, polyunsaturated fatty acids seem unable to penetrate into the interior of the hair at all, and remain either adsorbed onto the exterior surface of the hair or may get wedged into the cuticle layer.
Fatty acids in the interior of the hair can provide brittle hair with much-needed suppleness and elasticity. However, porosity is a very important factor to consider when using easily absorbed oils and butters. If one has very porous hair, it can absorb excessive quantities of these oils, which can lead to a host of problems."
Anyway, so not really sure of my porosity, but not caring at this point (have I mentioned I'm getting really frustrated?) I did a coconut oil DT for like 15 mins (I'm already fine and limp lol, but I know I need some moisture, or I think I do) and then loo-pooed. Both times I've done that, I've ended up with fantastic hair. SooOOoooOOoooooooooooooooo....
would this be because 1. The dews are high here and the oil is not quite getting completely washed off in the loo-poo, thus acting like a sealant?
2. I'm porous and this is actually moisturizing my hair?
3. I'm crazy.
(honestly, I think I'm going for option 3)
I used the same styling products and rinse out for both oil dt's, but changed the "wash" routine.
Remind me to NEVER get mad and completely change my whole routine. I had great hair, but its taken me over a week to figure out WHAT part of the process gave me the decent tresses. And to be honest, I'm still not sure, but today I finally changed stuff around so that the only thing that was the SAME as the orginial incident was the styling products and the coconut oil pre-wash. I had changed every aspect of the wash in 80thousand ways.
wow, sorry, that wasn't a "quick reply"
