Default Different Use for...

Roux Porosity Control Conditioner. Has anyone tried this without a chemical service? Just curious since the manufacturers claim it's porosity control of pH 4.5.

I tried it as an alternative to an acid rinse. It was a bit drying on me, but I could see where some porous curlies would like it.

It has gotten good reviews elsewhere on the site.

UPDATE

My results were good with the Roux Porosity Control pH 4.5 Conditioner. I tried because I felt my hair was more porous than usual, and I wanted to see if the conditioner would close most of the cuticles, and it did. My hair was softer and had less tangles. I followed with a leave-in afterward since I have very dry hair.

I have since found two conditioners that I use as DT that give me the same result, so I'm using them instead.

I would recommend this product for natural curlies if you have hard water or overly porous hair (leave in for twice the time mentioned on the bottle). But be sure to follow with a leave-in.

What DTs are you using that produce similar results? ...if you don't mind sharing

Tinah:

The two conditioners that give me the same results are:
Aquage Healing Conditioner and Mixed Chicks Deep Conditioner. I've also used Ion anti-frizz solutions Extreme Moisture Nurturing Creme (Sally's) with the same results. I use heat with the products, and then let my hair cool down. The whole process takes 45 minutes.

I've used the Mixed Chicks Deep Conditioner before, but stopped for a while because I wanted to try other DT's.

Roux Porosity Control pH 4.5 Conditioner

where is this available? Can this be mixed with a moisturizing conditioner to be used as a styler w/o hold?

The only place that I know of that carries it is Sally's. Was thinking of using it before getting my hair colored, hoping it will make the color more even.

Frizzly:

I don't know if it can be used as a styler, but try it and let us know. If it's successful, that could be a new use for the product!
