Default What's with the globs in D. Bronner's rinse?

Does anyone else's bottle of Dr. Bronner's Shikakai rinse have gelatinous globs in it that won't dissolve in water? When I mix the capful with water they sink to the bottom of my water bottle and if they pour onto my head they are blobs on my hair.

What is up with that? Talk about an unappealing product!!!

This morning my husband took my water bottle that had my capful of Bronner's in it and ran it through the blender. It definitely made the globs disappear but I'm not sure I want that stuff on my hair even if it is blended in!

Anyone have any ideas on this?

I used to leave some mixed with water in a condiment bottle in the shower. It never "melted" all of the way. I think that's the way that the Shikakai is--when I made an infusion of the Ayurvedic herbs, it was like that. My hair liked the herb infusion a little better, I think the Dr. Bronner's is a little to acidic for my hair. Whenever I used the Shikakai rinse (mine or Dr. Bronner's) it always looked like mud was spattered in the shower.

I bought two bottles of this about a month ago. When I first tried it I immediately noticed these big globs that wouldn't dissolve at all. I had to use a strainer to get rid of the biggest globs. (Next time I will try a coffee filter). I was a bit worried but used it, and it worked well.

I then checked my second bottle and it has a totally different consistency, it has no globs and is more runny than my first bottle. It dissolves easily in water. I've used this second bottle twice now and the results are the same as the first bottle.

I'm not sure why the consistency is so different. But they both work the same.

I've been really pleased with this rinse, I prefer this over an ACV rinse, since I hate the smell of ACV. I threw out my bottle of ACV after trying the Dr Bronner's rinse.

I am so glad you posted this -- I used the Dr Bronner's rinse for the first time yesterday and I noticed the globs as well.

Thanks sweetseven that helps. I figured the gobs were more annoying than an actual problem

I've not had it get too gobby on me.

I put it in and old sports drink bottle and shake the crap out of it before use.

Mine is a little globby, I put it in a measuring cup that I use to pour on my head. I put the water and Bronners in it then use a wire whisk to blend it all. I've had better luck with that then shaking it, problem solved.

Have a question that's a little off the main topic. How often are people using this? It's much more acidic than ACV-- a pH of 2 and ACV was a 4. I do an acid rinse every three days with soap bar and didn't want to use the Shikakai Rinse since I didn't notice a difference. How often are you using this? Has anyone noticed a difference from the more acidic product? Are you at all concerned?

Weekly or so.

I'm not getting drying issues, but I have the beneficial toughness that coarse hair has, which, combined with my porosity, seems to suit how this product works for me.

I use mine about once a week, no drying so far. I like how it seems to smooth my hair.

ACV was never drying for me, but I only used it about once a month. I wanted to do them more often, but the smell always turned me off.

Thanks. I've ignored the once a month only for the ACV with no problem. So I was wondering how others felt about using something that's even more acidic.

I solved the globs problem- I poured the entire bottle in the blender and blenderized it all. It's now like smooth mud. Still pretty unappealing but better than those globs.
