Talking To dye, or not to dye, that is the question.

I need some opinions please.

I haven't dyed my roots for months because I am pregnant. I am past the point of worry now though, and am sick of them! I almost dyed my hair dark before I found out I was pregnant, but I really like myself blonde. The problem is that I have very fine hair, and the blonde really fries my hair. (I only do my roots, but it does overlap, so most hair gets dyed 2x.) Anyway, I really like brown hair, I don't think blonde is better, I like them both the same. I just really think that I look better with lighter hair. (I was born blonde btw.)
I dyed my hair back to brown my last two pregnancies. (I got to this point, then dyed it brown thinking I would let my natural color grow. It never lasted though, and I ended up blonde again.)

Anyway, what looks better on me do you think, blonde or brown? Is it worth it to hurt my hair a bit to like what I see when I look in the mirror?
I think I am answering my own question here, but I still would like some HONEST unbiased opinions please.

Oh, and getting it professionally is not an option, because I just don't have that kind of $$ to spend every couple months.

Thanks,
Laura

I picked dying it closer to your natural shade, however, the blonde also looks nice! I'm kind of biased when it comes to darker hair though...

Maybe you could dye it darker then get some highlights?

I should have made a 5th option, dying it purple. lol I always wanted purple hair as a teen/young adult, but at 31 with 2.5 kids, it just doesn't seem right.

I would do a darker blonde color but not brown since it tends to come out a little darker anyway, a semi-permenant color that washes out. I went months and months while I was preggo and hated my grey roots so when I was around 8 months, shortly before I was due, I colored it. I knew I would have no time to do it right after my baby was born and that a fresh color would be better right before. That color got me thru abut 2 months after my son was born. I think that since he was born and now he will be 4 on Saturday, I only color 3x a year with the semi-perm stuff. I use natural instincts and it is very close to my natural color.

id dye it a darker blonde color

if you dye your hair only once it will eventually fade competely ( in case you dont like it )

If you go darker it will take a few times for the blonde to hold the darker shade. They use a filler when you go from blonde to dark. It can take several colorings to achieve an even color. I had a really hard time getting the color to hold. It took about 5 months. Did alot of cutting to get rid of the damage.

You could end up with more damage going dark than staying blonde to begin with. Especially if your doing it yourself. I cant do just the roots myself which is why I have to go in.

Haha! I always wanted navy blue hair... even now I think it would be pretty awesome. But I too am 31 (no kids) and at this age.... I'd feel a little silly. Last year I put a bright red streak down each side of my part (not a huge one, maybe an inch wide) and you should have heard all of the "older" ladies rag on me about it! All the younger crowd loved it.
