Plopping/plunking

At first, I was not a fan. I tried twice and both times I ended up really flat and oddly curled on top.

Fast forward to tonight: I did this weird, really leaning forward bring my curls to the top of my head, pretty much to my forehead and I'm officially a fan now. I got really nice, fully formed, springy curls! Yay!

I use cloth diapers to dry my hair, and I just put one of those inside a Tshirt. As you can imagine, it was awkward! When I thought that plopping just wasn't for me I had no interest in buying one of those "fancy" towels.

Now, I need to know!!

i'm glad it finally worked for you. i've had similar issues with plopping and i use cloth diapers to dry my hair too

our hair looks similar...i'm going to try plopping your way. how long did you plop?

I don't think curls like us can be used for plopping...

I don't plop anymore but when I did I used flour sack towels.

I plopped for about an 1 1/2 hours. I would say I was probably about 50% dry when I pulled it out. I diffused because I was going to bed. I then put on a satin cap, and I actually still have nice curl today. I'm not used to so much volume! I think I probably lost about 4 inches in the front!

If I plopped that long my hair would be stuck in whatever position it was in during the plop. I so wish that plopping gave me volume. I should try it again but I tried for months and months and it just did not work for me. It pulled out my curls on the side and back and I got odd curls on the top. I love the idea of it though.

I didn't towel dry AT ALL before I plopped. I scrunched HESMU and a bit of BRHG ala mysteryflavored style, and was actually still dripping a bit when I plopped. Maybe that makes a difference in how pliable it still is when it comes out.

I'm doing the same thing right now minus the BRHG, (because that stuff just takes all day to SOTC!) since I took a morning nap and my hair just looked all funny and pointy when I woke up!

I'll let everyone know if it turns out as well!

I use a microfiber turban currently. But I am going to be getting some flour sack towels soon.
I plop overnight, so about eight or nine hours, as the towel is off about an hour or two before I wake up, or so I am told that is how long it is off before I wake up.
