CJ aloe fix gel

I would not have an issue with my hair growing - I need all the volume I can get. For me it's the insane frizz it gives me. Is that what you (rudee and whatsercurl) mean by growing???

Same thing happens to me with FOTE so I know it's the aloe causing it. But with BRHG overtop it's the bomb!

Just out of curiosity, did you have problems with CK also?

I should try your routine tomorrow and see if I just become a whole head of frizz. We have had very low dewpoints here for the past 5 days too. I have not used any products with glycerin in them since about 2 weeks ago when I was noticing a frizz issue.

Yeah I hear you about the cost of products. It can be a pain, I resisted CJ stuff for a long time! What prompted me to try it was this wacky Summer we've had. My tried and true methods that worked last Summer were MEH..Then whc of course was the biggest product pusher and wouldn't take NO for an answer

heart of curls if you do a Google Search and type in CJ Aloe you'll pull up a bunch of recent discussions on all of CJ products. Be sure to check out Marsha's blog too she's got some excellent suggestions on there.

Here's ella's thread: CJ aloe-fix gel and frizz?

Fave CJ products thread:
What are your favorite CJ products?

So those getting frizz, ella wasn't using enough product and she wasn't moisturized enough and that's why she had issues It's hard to say for sure, WHC uses CK under I tried this too and it helped.

I use it over CJ CCCC and under LaBella Lots of curls gel. But I've been getting the 'growing' thing lately, so I'm gonna try w/ BRHG.

You know this was on my list of things to try....love the idea of more softness and definition, but the idea of more frizz or volume scares me as someone with coarse very dense hair....now not sure...to try, or not to try LOL

I am drying crispy but that does not surprise me (and I am used the BHRG crunch) but so far no weird frizziness. I will update once fully dry and I SOTC.

Update-Ok..I do not understand my hair. No major frizz after using both CK and AF. Not a ton more volume but nice curl and not stringy-and decent root volume. I know when I used AF before the dewpoints were in this range as well so I know it's not that. Idonotgetit.

OK, so I used my AF yesterday and the results were not great. There are so many places where I may have gone wrong, though. The first is I forgot to scrunch out the water with my CLU towel, so diffusing my very wet hair was a disaster. Also, I had nice clumpage when I scrunched in the AF but then I decided to scrunch in my gel (Biolage Gellee) upside down - big mistake, it turned my clumps into stringy noodles.
I'm about to try again with the aloe fix, this time on towel-dried hair. Hopefully this gives me more definition.

10 hours later: well, it seems like towel drying before applying the AF made all the difference. I used my CLU cloth as directed in their video which created great clumps. Then I scrunched in the AF on my clumpified hair. Then diffused aggressively because I wanted my hair dry (I hate the wet look) - this created lots of volume but amazingly my curls stayed in tact. It was big, Shakira-like hair.

I LOVE this stuff. It never feels producty and it really defines and enhances curl. This is a DELICIOUS hair product.

I want to purchase another tub for when I go overseas again. I'll be gone for 9 months, and I don't want to risk being CJAF-less. I'm just not sure if it's made to last very long. Anyone know??

It does last a long time - but I doubt it would last 9 months.
I mean, it depends how much you use. I use a lot and it's lasted me a while.

No idea whether it spoils, but as a precaution I recently started keeping all my natural hair care products that I don't use daily in the refrigerator. In the case of AF gel, I have a small travel size container that I keep in my medicine cabinet and occasionally move into my purse to take with me for afternoon touch-ups.

Since there are some products I only use in summer or winter, refrigeration really helps.

Some products, such as flax seed gel, I keep in the freezer. I don't know whether you could freeze CJ AF, but I can't imagine that you'd need to as long as you could refrigerate it.
hair type: 2B/3A
low poo: Elucence moisture; Elucence clarifying (after swimming)
condish: CJ smoothing; CJ argan; CJ repair me; CJ curl rehab; CJ strengthening (summer only)
winter/spring styling: CJ Beauticurls leave-in + Curly Kinks coil jam + Ouidad mongongo oil; or CJ leave-in + SpiralSolutions CEJ & FHG
summer/fall styling: CJ CCCC lite + CJ Curl Queen

I think it probably does as it's more 'natural' but I think you probably would have used it before it spoils because it does contain preservatives.

Thanks everyone for your input! I went ahead and emailed Marsha yesterday and here's what she said:

CJ Products have been tested at the lab to have a 2 year shelf life (without opening). Upon opening, I have put a 12 month limit on it, but it depends on the storage/usage conditions of the user, but this is true of most beauty products. That is to say, you do not need to keep them in the fridge. Hope that helps! :-)

Have you tried regular aloe vera gel? I've seen a few threads on that, and have been wanting to try it. How is this different from that? Yes, the CJ stuff looks expensive...
