They used to sell them on the MicroHairCap site, but for some reason they are not doing that any more. I don't know where to get replacements. I have been using mine with just the two side packs, because the middle broke. It works fine with the side packs.

Have you called their customer service? I haven't needed to replace the gel packs yet.

I bursted the middle one too. I got a heat gel pack (for leg, arm, etc) from Walmart and it fit *almost* perfectly (perfect for a $1.50 investment). Now if the side ones burst, I'm gunna be in trouble.

Bumping this up because another gel-pack section in my middle/top area popped again today. :x It hadn't even been in the microwave 20 seconds when it happened. *sigh*

I make various types of heat packs (such as eye masks) by sewing fabric and filling with flax seeds. They heat up beautifully in the microwave, so if you can sew you could match the dimensions of the damaged heat packs and make your own. Hey, you might be able to put flax seeds in a ziplock bag (with a tiny air hole?) The oil in the flax seeds holds heat for a long time, better than rice which is also used for heat packs and relies on the moisture in rice grains.

I have tried numerous times to email them and have gotten zero response from them Talk about your lousy customer service. I haven't had any packs explode but would like some spares incase they do so I don't have to be without.

I always worry about the gel packs exploding. I think I'm going to make some flax seed or rice packs for mine. I'd hate to not notice it's popped, and try to use it. OUCH! Thanks for the idea sine.wave.

I can't sew for the life of me, but I sure wish I could.

Rice or flax? I never thought of that. What an awesome idea! I love you inventive and resourceful curlies!

I think CurlMart still has some replacement packs, which Gretchen got in special just for us.

I noticed right away when mine burst, and it wasn't a big hole at all, just a small split in the side seam. I worried about not noticing, but it leaked onto the fabric and I knew before it ever reached my noggin. I think that's what happens...it's not so much that the pack bursts as the seams split.

Flax seeds sound like a great idea, especially if you kind of baffle or quilt the holder so they are evenly distributed. Rice gets kind of heavy...I've also seen buckwheat used.

I am scared by how attached I have become to my gel cap!

I have one of these and have only used it once, a little heavy when I'm sitting there trying to watch tv. LOL.

Are the bursts happening from overheating them? I'd hate to have one of the packs break on me and have trouble replacing them. Initially I also did think of just replacing it with those athletic heat/cold packs which would work great for the middle pack, but if the side ones did burst now sure either myself.

They are here:

http://www.curlmart.com/Curlicious-Extras-p-3-c-22.html

It's the last page under Curlicious Extras in CurlMart.

I'm not sure what happened, I think quite a few people were asking for them, and the manufacturer shipped some out to CurlMart.

Anyway, I ordered 2 of the big ones that go in the middle, so if you need one and CurlMart is out, PM me. I don't want to be greedy...but I guess I am greedy, I just didn't want to be left without again!
