Aubrey Organics
So, I just got the GPB Glycogen Protein Conditioner and used AOHR as a leave in and my hair is amaaaazing right now!
I'm falling in love with AO.
I was just wondering, has anyone tried the protein conditioner, and, also, I am considering buying the B5 design gel as I like to use more 'natural' things.
For those of you who have used the B5 gel, what level of hold does it have? And do you like it?

I'm going to Whole Foods today to get the GPB. I think my hair needs protein.

I started out hard core cg, no quats nothing now I don't use any beauty supplies with carcinogens. I use a lot of AO. I really like the B5 gel. It has pretty good hold. But the gell I sometimes use with it is KMF upper management gel. There is a really good website called skin deep that will tell you about all the ingredients in every product and how safe it is.

BTW has anyone tried the hair colour from there? I would love to find a more natural hair colour solution!

GPB was the conditioner I bought on a recommendation from Struttswife. It saved my hair.
My hair was protein-starved and this helped to fill the need. It was also tangling very badly in between showers and becoming a chore to untangle even when it was wet with conditioner in it. When I first started I used it every time I rinsed as a rinse out and I used about a nickel size as a leave-in. Now, I use it about 2-3 times a week. I'm a big fan.
Just purchased more yesterday at WF. I was lucky enough to find 16 oz. size this time.

I use the GPB in the winter, it's too heavy for me in the summer. I like the B-5, but picked up some Giovanni LA Natural this week. SBB talks about it. Said she traded in her AOMM for this--likes it better. (I'm pretty sure of this. Forgive me, SBB, if I'm misquoting you.) I've used this twice. It's very nice and very natural.

I'm only just starting to play with the B5 Design gel, so I'm not an expert yet. But here's what I've found so far:
1) I love it for touching up 2nd day hair (or frizzy, late-in-the-day hair). I spritz my hair with water and mix a teeny bit of the gel with a little more water in my hands, then smooth/scrunch it in. I've done this with other gels, but with this one, the texture of my hair comes out nicer. Some of the others can give me a coated, gunky look.
2) The only other way I've used it is over a leave-in, when I just want "casual" hair. I'm not sure it provides enough hold for a "serious" hair day.... but I haven't tried it yet, nor have I tried it with a hard-hold gel over it.
When I have used it this way, it may thicken my hair strands a little bit.... which I'm not looking for.
Jury's still out. But it's not that expensive; I think it's worth a try. In general, it has not received great reviews around here -- but some people really like it!

Thanks for everyones' help! I usually use La Bella for curls gel and that's a level 8 hold, so I was wondering if I could get the same hold from the B5 design gel. I'm fed up of putting plastics in my hair and want something that will nourish my hair, you know?
Poppins - AO is AMAZZZZING! I bought mine from a shop really close to me. I've decided to alternate between the protein condish and the AOHR, using the other one as a leave-in.

I like AOHR in the winter. I have tried AOMM and B5. AOMM has no hold. B5 has very, very little. But I need a hard hold gel like Got2b Spiked or BRHG

Thanks, that's really helpful. I may get it and use a hard hold gel over it.

It is very moisturizing for me. I haven't experimented much with it but I think it'd work nicely with BRHG. When I used it I did AOMM-AOB5-BRHG and I think it was too much moisture for the summer.

Just tried this--to see what it does for frizz. I wet my hands and smoothed them over canopy, wet hands again and added a little AO B-5 and smoothed it on. Was afraid to scrunch much--didn't want to stir things up as my hair wasn't too frizzy. Am waiting for it to dry. So far, it looks pretty good. You may be on to something--would be a great use for this product. I wonder how AOMM would be using it this way??

I already use CJ AFG + hard hold gel
So would it be pointless getting AO B5?

Ella, many of us just like to have products around, LOL! This is very different then the Aloe Fix. However, if you want a more natural gel and can get the Giovanni products--I'd try the LA Natural. It's cheaper, or about the same price. It says hard hold on the bottle. It's not BRHG, but I don't like BRHG because it leaves my hair feeling producty. The LA Natural does not. It leaves it soft and bouncy. I used it over the Seamollient/Master Serum LI today with little frizz. Now that I did wavycurly40+'s little trick, I have no frizz--and the dewpoint was 63 this morning.

Glad it worked for you! I'm sure it will stop working for me, now that I've posted about it, LOL! But as long as it works for somebody else.......

poppins - if your hair is coarse, do you really want to use GBP? I think the jojoba and aloe might do well for you though. JMO.

You might want to hold off on the really protein-heavy stuff since you have coarse hair. I have thick coarse 2c hair & it hates protein like you wouldn't believe . Coarse hair often has more than enough protein already.
My hair loves AOHR very occasionally but when I go crazy with it my hair turns into straw. Maybe it's all the oils in it, my hair seems to hate oils. It also has no slip on my hair for some reason so I'm thinking of trying it as a pre-co-wash. Anyway my husband loves the smell so I'm thinking of reasons to keep using it.
I haven't tried the jojoba & aloe but now I want to! Maybe I'll try it when I run out of AOHR
Here's a good link for info on coarse hair: http://livecurlylivefree.com/curly%20hair%20basics.htm (you might have to scroll down a little)

I like the B5 gel a lot. It has very soft hold for me but it doesn't weigh down my waves...
