Default Speak to me of Curl Junkie for fine hair

I have samples of Aloe Fix, Smoothing Gelee, and CCCC. I've read most of the CJ threads, but haven't found how much product to use. My hair is chin-length, thin and fine. I like a strong hold so I'll probably use a dab of BRHG over the top of whatever I do.

So, how much product should I use? TIA!

I love these products.

I use the AFG or the SG against prescription directions over leave in. I don't add much AFG, two dime size and about the same of SG. I add BRHG over top. I tried the AFG and SG alone but this time of year with all the humidity I need a strong hold gel to stop the expansion. I'll try them again alone in the fall.

Many others are loving CCC over the summer. I liked it better for spring. When I used it in spring, I used it under AFG - LOVED IT!!!

My hair's also fine and just a little bit longer than yours. I've been using about a pea-sized drop of the smoothing gelee. I like it so far, but I think I need a little more hold. I'm just afraid to put anything else over it though because my hair gets weighed down so easily.

do you mean they use the cjcc by itself in summer? without the afg? or just with afg and not another gel?
i just got an order of cj products and today is only the 2nd day i am experimenting, so i know there is a learning curve, trying to shorten it.
so far, i like it, just not crazy about price and that i have to order it online.

I have fine hair, but a lot of it, but I can get weighed down easily. I have used the CCCC then AFG over combo with wonderful results every time. I don't use a leave in with this combo. I generally use a dime size on each side and one flipped over (ala mysterflavored technique), but I do rake AND scrunch the product in.

I have been experimenting with using JUST the AFG lately and I find that i need a light leave in under it, i use GDLI. Sometimes, when humidity is high, I will scrunch in some HEBE, Fuzzy Duck Gel, or Paul Brown Goo over the top and get amazing results.

Not to guano, but another really amazing product for fine hair that won't weigh you down is the Komaza Coconut Curl pudding, that stuff is great with a little gel over it.

If you go to the review board, you'll find a VERY lengthy thread with lots of tips for how to use the products. I don't remember exactly how it's being used but I suspect it's under AFG or SG. I use so much less of these than drugstore products that cost per styling works out to be about the same.

ETA: I notice that I typed that I liked it better in summer but I meant I liked it better for spring.

Today's experiment was a big . I used JCRLIC (which I always use) and then scrunched in AFG and my usual dab of BRHG.

I knew immediately that it wasn't going to work. My hair was wavy and barely curling. It pouffed out/frizzed when dry. I immediately wet it down and did my regular routine with KCCC which failed because of the ridiculous amount of product in my hair. Needless to say, I am wearing a hat right now.

I think I got too much AFG. I'll work up my nerve to try again next weekend.

I don't even know why I'm experimenting. KCCC is my HG and almost always works for me. Guess I'm hoping for the magic product that will give me 3B ringlets.

My hair is fine and there isn't a lot of it. I LOVE all of the CJ products. Sounds like our hair is similar. Are you low porosity, too?? I use very little of any product. After reading Marsha's blog:

http://curljunkie.blogspot.com/2009/...hort-post.html

I've cut down on layering the products for the summer. I use a leave in or a curl enhancer and a gel--not all three. There is something about the Aloe Fix on her blog, too.

It's actually the natural soap bars that gave me the tighter curls, the other products and technique help--but its the soap bars. My curls are too loose to be total 3b ringlets--but I have curl from the root and spirals all the way down. Have you tried those?

whatsercurl -- today is the 3rd day i am using cj, and i am beginning to get how little you need! i haven't used drugstore products in years, but am used to being able to buy quality products at discounts. however, it seems as tho so little of cj products are needed, that it will be cost effective.
don't know if i am still not understanding this, but it seems the only product you'd use more of is the afg??? i mean, more compared to the conditioners and the cccc????
so far, i love how conditioning cj is, i just have to figure out the correct amounts for my hair (and then, the weather!! lol)

I do use even less of the CCCC but I use about the same amount of AFG and condish. Probably works out to a couple dime-quarter size blobs.

As I understand, CCC is very rich and loaded with oils. I'm surprised it works with your fine hair.
/I just finished reading SW's book and trying to build a new routine for my fine, med-porous hair. I considered CCCC, but I'm afraid it will pull out my curls/

I got away from the soap bars last fall but they did work well for me. I'll reintroduce them and see what happens.

I still haven't figured out the whole porosity thing, but I think my hair is pretty normal in that regard.

I know you have hard water too. Do you use an ACV rinse every time you wash with the soap bar? Do you use a rinse out conditioner every time you wash? Before or after the ACV?

Sorry to guano my own thread. LOL.

My water is not as hard as some--when I set up the espresso maker it was a 3 of 4, so it could be worse. I do a soap bar every three days--always do an ACV rinse to restore pH. I wet and do a rinse out everyday. Thought I may be over conditioned (after reading whatsercurl's posts) but went without a few times and my hair was dry. I was doing ACV and then rinse out after reading that on Struttswife's blog--but changed back to rinse out, rinse, ACV to close the cuticle and restore pH. There has been lots of discussion of the order of things on the thread about the Alternative to Dairy Whip.

I love the CJ products. The Coffee Coco has been an HG for eighteen months. I really liked the curl creme that was discontinued--the Guava Protein which was even richer. My hair likes the heavier products, but I can only use minute amounts.

I am loving the CJ line but have yet to find a way to make the cccc work... it is heavy for my curls.

I use very little - about a pea size emsulified in my hands then raked through. I find it about the same weight as Re:coil but I like it way more.

I used probably even less (not sure what is smaller than a pea-rice grain??) - but I also emulsify in my hands til they are covered in a very thin layer of white and then rake/scrunch into very wet hair - then a gel over it.

I never get the 'pea sized' thing. I have so much damn hair it all gets used up in the first area!

My hair isn't as long as yours anymore but it's very thick and I can use between a dime-nickel size for my whole head and that seems to be working well.

Well, this fine/thin haired curly does not get 'golf ball' sized amounts either.

thanks so much -- i clearly have been using too much cccc, so i will cut back and hope that will do the trick.
now, about how much afg do you use? more than cccc, right?
and, i know on her website marsha says to smooth in afg if you want loser curls, scrunch it in if you want more defined.
so, how much afg, and how do you apply it? and, is your hair thin, med, or thick, long or short?
thanks!!
and, do you then use another gel on top?
