Updos will be your best bets until your hair adjusts and you're happy with your look. I took about a month to adjust.

Don't worry.

SuperCurly,
What kind of problems are you having? I think everyone's hair is different, but I think your hair should be looking fab by Aug. 12. Mine took about 2-3 weeks the first time, and just a few days this time. You'll have to experiment a bit to find the right products/routine for your hair. What are you using now? You should get lots of tips on budget friendly products here. One of my fave conditioning washes is VO5 Vanilla Mint. I'ts only 1.00$! Good luck, and keep us posted. 8th grade is an awesome year!

It usually takes 2-6 weeks for most people to transition.

I personally have a hard time getting through it, after 3-3.5 weeks I usually give in and low poo which then I have to start all over again; and again after 3 weeks I just cannot take it anymore. If I could manage to wear my hair up (causes too much breakage/damage in my dry, brittle hair) I would probably last longer. Although, this is not everyone's experience, most people transition easier. I just produce an excessive amount of sebum (aka hair oil), and usually need to wash my hair 2-3x/day. I'm going to try again starting August, this time I'm changing a few 'tactics'.

I wish you success on your transitioning to CG.

Mod-CG since June 2007
aaa00a, low-pooing doesn't ruin your CG routine. You could go mod CG.
