Anywhooooo...I do see why it's a good idea to do outside the shower because I had no idea what my part was doing. But I liked being able to re-wet/add water in the shower. So I need to figure out what's more important - my part or convenience of not splashing all around the sink.

As I noted on the Struttswife plopping thread I also did a quick plop today which I have not done in AGES!! Overall so far so good. I have diffused a bit and it's now airdrying.

This is a keeper of a routine once I figure out where I want to do it and I have all my supplies/products ready.
LOL.. I "invented it" at the sink. Then tried switching it to the shower - but had the same funkified part issues. It just works so muc better for me in front of a mirror. And I TRIED a shower mirror - too small

So yeah, I tried it today. Left me with big clumps prior to diffusing. Shoulda taken pics, I know, but the end result was just meh because I used my Hot Sock today for the first time and it wrecked my clumps.
My only hestitation about this method is that when you're rewetting at the sink, I felt like it was washing out my LI and curl creme. Yes, I was scrunching up (it's not like I poured water over my head), but still I felt like some product must have been coming off with the water dripping from my hair. I used CJ CCCC today and I shudder to think it may have run down the drain eeeek! What are your thoughts?

IMO, a Hot Sock is only slightly better than no diffuser at all. I only use mine in a pinch when traveling - never if I have any other sort of diffuser available . . . .

Also, IMO, soaking wet hair, regardless of how I achieved it (right out of the shower or adding some back in from the faucet or by spraying), has always worked best for me, especially on first day. If I do it on first day, I can usually get good enough succeeding days without having to wet it so much - which saves me a lot of time on those days.

Default Pic Update

Ok. I know you girls are waiting for the video and I promise its coming. My son is taking a filmaking seminar this week, as it happens, so all his gear is out and I am hopeful we will get it done by the weekend.

Til then I posted some pics on my photobucket of how the hair looks about midway thru the diffusing process ( I tried to take pics of the SS method, but there is SO MUCH water invloved I was afraid to wreck my digital cam).

Sorry I still havent figured out how to post friggin thumbnails but they are the first 3 pics on the opening page.

This method really makes you look closer to 3B. Well, OK, 3B spiralness with 3A curl diameter, which means - nice clumps!

My curl varies with product, technique and weather (duh). But I think, if I put ABSOLUTELY zero product in my hair and didnt touch it til it dried, I would be an even split between 3a and 3b.

Its so confusing

It makes sense. You have a 3b spiral, but you have the width and fatness in your curl of a 3a, and IIRC, your natural state is more 3a-ish when it comes to root curl.

I have 3b curl diameter, but closer to a 3a spiral pattern, especially at my current length. I also have an easy time with root curl, especially at short lengths, which is more a 3b thing. As long as my moisture/protein balance is in check, the root curl is there.

In the end, I guess it isn't all that relevant; curls are curls.

That makes perfect sense! Which explains why my hair will tend to clump (thats the 3a in me) as opposed to yours!

I do have some genuine 3b near my temples, thats why my back pics looks clumpier than my front pics. But now I know I am a 3a.... never thought in terms of curl diameter!

You sho SHMART!

Default Alternate way

I also re-wet my hair but only do it on some days and I use a water bottle. For some reason... on some days my hair feels a little dry after applying my LI and curlcream (currently, pink boots/KCCC). I usually comb through those products and than rake in my gel and scrunch by section. However, when it seems too dry I spray the section of my hair with water and than rake and scrunch in the gel. If I don't do this it tends to get a little stringy and won't clump together as nice.

I am waiting eagerly for the video, but have a question. Drying time is always a bugaboo for me. Does this new method increase drying time a lot because you are re-wetting? I have never been able to plop successfully so that's no help with the drying time.

All right, my beloved hair twin, I am trying this tomorrow morning. If it doesn't work, you owe me a drink when we finally meet face to face
