Super-Soaker Method for Promoting Clumps -UPDATED/Video Link

Like Tree23Likes

So I have been trying this method all week and keeping quiet about it because it wasn't working "all the way". I was getting great clumps but no root volume (always a problem for me anyway) and frizz. I just knew I could make it work though if I kept at it. Yesterday was a success!!! I finally tweaked my clipping right to get the root volume and found a product combo that actually worked for me (this summer has been a struggle). I had nice clumpy curls and barely any frizz at all. I'm going to try for second day hair today (yes I've been lazy) and I'll report back.

As far as the drying time I haven't noticed an increase at all. I plop soaking wet hair for about 10 min then scrunch with my hair towel a little more and air dry. It's still about 3 hours total drying time. I haven't diffused/R2D2 in ages because I have no AC and it's too darn hot.

It was my first time using the Lush though...I might be in love

The dewpoint (71) ruined the 1/2 way decent hair day that I posted about above. I have been using honey in my rinse out condish and I think the dewpoint reached the point of bad when it comes to honey. Prior to today it was working well.

I know I'm a freak though......

Jess that's awesome that it's working for you, I had a feeling you were experimenting, reading and being methodical

I VOTE FOR SUPER SOAKER!!
Still have not got my denman brush. Tried with wide tooth comb and finger combing. Making quite a mess in the bathroom. SO thinks I'm certainly certifiable. Getting decent results but I think the denman is the trick. Get paid on Friday!!
Going to Sally's for the denman. Will take pics to post.

I can see all the reasons it's not working for you though. At my length a year ago, maybe even 6 months ago, I never could have used it. It would have pulled all my waves out. Don't you hate when something works for everyone and not you

Another one here for super soaker.

Even though I have no idea if it's really working for me or not - takes soo long for my hair to dry, and I have yet to find any kind of stuff to put all through my hair that doesn't completely drag out what little curl I have.

I just soak good, scrunch it, then spray/scrunch with the Hask stuff (Instant curls? Can't recall the exact name)
I tried this today in the shower. I was totally surprised how well this works. No stringy hair today. I got nice big clumps. I am typically a 2c and I had alot of 3a curls as well. This will be my new routine from now on.

My hair looks way better now but my cameras broken so i cant post pics yet i will soon.
My hair is usually pretty clumpy, but this really did help with my clump factor today. Wonder how I can translate this into a salon environment to experiment without flooding the place out?
