Creative ways to wear your hair when it's not down?

This doesn't apply to me too much now, since my hair is short, but it grows sooooo fast, and frankly, I get tired of having it in my face all the time. By the same token, I get tired of your standard ponytail or bun, so I'm wondering if any of you curlies on here have any ideas for creative ways to wear your hair when it isn't completely down. And by creative, I am thinking more along the lines of something fairly low-maintenance and quick to do but that also looks great throughout the day.
Fine, porous 3a with some 3b...

I see people where very cute braids or actually BRAID it starts where your part is and then goes the opposite side. pictutre.http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/vi...-braid-271367/
I want to try this.
I use hair sticks and do a messy french twist with them. Then I usually wear a scarf or headband to dress it up a little and hide the frizziness that abounds around my hairline when my hair is past day 4 or 5.

That particular style is pretty easy, if you already know how to french braid. If you're doing it on yourself, it's easier if you do what's called a lace braid - add hair on only one side and the braid covers the part. I did one like this just the other day and then pulled all my hair into an up-do. I have a pic on my camera that I'll try to get uploaded soon.
