Why didnt my ACV rinse work?
I did my co-wash, ACV rinse, then AOHR rinse out, followed by my products. I used 1-2 Tbls. Apple Cider Vinegar per 8 oz. water, but even after rinsing the ACV, my hair just felt really, I dont know, a mix between sticky and really dried out. I felt like the AOHR didnt do a thing, its usually one of my HG conditioners because its SO moisturizing.
I even noticed I had a hard time detangling in the shower with the AOHR in, and my hair isnt normally tangly.
I know ACV closes the cuticle, but I think it was closed TOO much and didnt allow any other products to work.
Needless to say it was a BAD hairday! My curls still feel dried out, and they were insanely hard to manage this morning!
did i do something wrong? does my hair just hate ACV?? I know I dont have buildup since all my products are CG friendly and i use a sulfate free shampoo once a week.

I do the rinse out before the ACV rinse, while the cuticle is still open. (just changed back to that order.) But I don't think that's the issue. If you're doing a sulfate shampoo once a week, you could be stripping your hair of the natural oils.
The only times I've had that sticky (it's really and odd greasy feeling) and dried out at the same time was either after mineral oil or castor oil. Only time my hair tangles. Possibly your products have an ingredient your hair doesn't like.

Thanks KathyMack, I meant to say that I do a non-sulfate shampoo once a week, I couldnt tell you the last time I used a poo with sulfates. Maybe i'll try it again after the rinse out with a different conditioner. Maybe the oils from AOHR and the ACV dont like each other? I just felt it was really strange since Ive seen so many people who LOVE ACV rinses.

ACV rinses can be drying which is why the Live Curly Live Free website advocates you only do them once a month max. Maybe your hair is just too dry to handle it, especially if you're already shampooing? What is the low-poo you're using?

Sorry, I misread the sulfate shampoo. I can only use the AO conditioners twice a week in winter and not at all in summer--they are too heavy. You would get over conditioned, not the symptoms you're describing--at least I don't think so. What other products do you use? It may be something there that your hair isn't liking.
I would try the other conditioner. It couldn't hurt. My hair really likes me to rotate products. I seldom use anything more then twice a week. If you don't do that, give it a try.

My hair in incredibly dry anyways, it might be just too dry to handle AVC. The shampoo is Giovani 50:50.
Im finishing up a couple products right now, I had been using Ouidad Balancing Rinse as a leave in and Ouidads Heat and Humidity gel. From my other thread, I think a couple people suggested that my hair might not like proteins, and both products I mentioned have proteins.
Im going to be picking up a leave in with out proteins, Im thinking KCNT unless anyone can suggest something else? And for a styling product Im thinking KCCC because I really need the extra moisture.
To counteract my bad hairday blues, I went to Sallys and picked up a Denman brush and I tried to find Lustrasilk, but they had none - shame too because the website says its on sale for $1.99

You may really like KCCC, not sure about the KCKT. I don't find it moisturizing enough.
