Protein in Jessicurl Too Shea! Extra Moisturizing Conditioner?
How come I can't seem to locate the protein in the ingredients list, but it's not listed as a protein-free product on Curl Mart?

Hydrolyzed oat flour is the protein (or contains the protein, almost the same ).

Oh okay, I guess I was thinking of that as more starchy...how strong is that as a protein?

Anything "starch" would also fall under the proteins. At least to my knowing. But your hair might react different to starch as it would to protein.
I notice the effects of the protein in JC's products on my hair (in a good way). I don't know about this one, I don't own it, but the oat flour seems low down on the list, where in other products the list isn't this long.

Oh wow I've never had to think of starch as a protein since in terms of nutrition it's considered a polysaccharide carbohydrate.
I have medium/coarse hair texture and have been avoiding proteins but wonder if maybe it would be worth trying some.

I'm coarse. Today I used JC Rockin'Ringlets (no protein), loads of Taliah Waajid Natural hair & locking styling lotion (silk protein as 2nd ingredient, ground hemp (what ever that is, but I'm assuming it has protein) and wheat) and some protein-free mousse. Even that was a bit to little protein for me, because my hair is very soft with loose curls. Just try it, you might like it. Or order/get a sample somewhere. You'll know soon enough, right?

All grains contain protein. Think of the people who can't handle gluten protein. Some people who have celiac disease can't handle the avanin protein in oats.
I notice the protein in a not good way, but I am really sensitive to grain proteins in products. Others who normally don't like protein can handle this one more since it is low down on the list.
If you see the word "hydrolized" on any ingredients list, it is more than likely a protein that has been hydrolyzed into a smaller size to make it more useful to hair.
The only way to find out if it bothers you is to try it out.
The Weekly DT is protein free.
