My hair is turning on me!

Im 1 month into CG and suddenly Im noticing my hair looks dry (not glossy anymore), and the canopy feels dry. Is it possible that Im overconditioned or have a protien sensitivity? Its really only the canopy that feels this way. Ive been using Suave waterlily and aloe for my cowash, BTB jasmine curl condish or Kenra moisturizing condish for my rinseout, Sexy pumpkin leave in, and I play with various combinations of Biolage gelee, KMS curl up spray, and curly sexy curling liquid. I SOTC with Got 2B pommade. All CG friendly.

I know it takes time, but im DYING for some soft shiny curls and getting frustrated.

Style: Biolage Gelee, plop then SOTC w/cone free pommade
If your hair feels dry, I'd start with a DT overnight. That's the easiest route to go, and overconditioning is easy to resolve if it occurs.

If that doesn't work, try a protein treatment. I know that sounds odd, but if you haven't got any protein to hold the moisture in, your hair will dry out. I'm not the most protein tolerant, but every now and then I need one and my hair actually feels softer after (that's not to say I can do it often and have great hair, I've tried).

If the DT works wonders, you might just need one every now and then. It's not automatically a sign of anything bad if you do. It might balance your hair if you are protein sensitive, which you'll have to experiment to determine.

I second trying a deep treatment - and then a protein treatment (followed by another DT, otherwise you may end up with dry hair regardless) if that doesn't do it. Protein sensitivity is not uncommon, but more likely in people with coarse hair as I understand it.

I'm not familiar with most of those products (well, I know of them, but I don't know the ingredients in them off the top of my head) - do you know if any have loads of protein in them? If so, if you think you might be protein sensitive, try not using those for a week and see if it improves.

There's also the possibility there may be a hidden cone in there somewhere that's built up, or you're susceptible to polyquat build-up, both of which, from what I hear, can result in dull looking hair.
3b/c. Fine, med-high porosity, normal elasticity. Hair loves oils in summer, protein in winter. Constantly battling the hard water monster.

It's probably product ingredients. I found two KMS sprays with "curl" in the name. One had denatured alcohol as the first ingredient, the other as the third--VERY drying. If you post the ingredients of your products, people can comment.

I'd do a product change. The protein treatment and DT can't hurt, but won't elevate the problem if the products have denatured alcohol.

They both left a nasty coating on my hair which could be contributing to the lack of glossiness you mentioned. I can't remember what the ingredients were. I have good luck with Suave Tangerine, Tropical Coconut and Cherry Blossom as well as Vo5 Blackberry Sage for co-washing.
