Las Vegas Hair
Help me, I'm going to Las Vegas for my 10 year anniversary next week (yay ) and I have no idea what to expect from the weather out there. Now with all the travel restrictions on sizes of products you can carry on, etc. I would like to have an idea ahead of time as to what to pack.
My hair is 3B with some 3C thrown in the back and has been very tempermental lately. It seems dry but has become overconditioned once already this summer.
Any ideas on the types of products I should pack in my arsenal would be greatly appreciated.

If you are checking a bag you could put a gallon size container of Boots in that bag if you wanted! But if you are trying only to bring carry-ons you'll need to keep everything to 3oz containers. TSA won't even take 3oz of something if it's in a bigger container! So go to Target or Sally's and get some 3oz bottles! And, of course, don't forget your 1 quart bag to put it all in!
Las Vegas is the middle of the desert and very hot and dry. On the flip side of that, you'll probably be mostly indoors (casinos and clubs and stuff) where it's insanely air-conditioned, also very dry.
I like gel in the desert, but I do put-in quite a bit of leave-in under it. I like to believe that this won't dry my hair out as much.
At my parents house in the desert in Cali, it's very hot and very dry. I was using Matrix Biolage Conditioning Balm, combed through (my mom actually had a tub of this gathering dust! I was all over it!) I put in a light hold Suave gel, also combed through. Then BRHG scrunched into the ends. I plopped for awhile, and when I pulled off the plop it would dry really fast! I actually really liked the weather, it was great for my hair!
Congratulations on 10 years and enjoy Vegas!

I'd say definitely forego anything with glycerin as it'll suck the moisture right out of your hair in arid conditions.

Outside: very dry, very hot & sunny (wear a hat).
Inside: very dry, cool & smoky (use a lavender oil refresher spray to eliminate the odor).
Don't use humectants. The dry air will make them act in reverse & any moisture will be sucked out of your hair.
Here are some things you can try:
* use a lightweight oil (i.e., jojoba) on wet/damp hair to seal in moisture.
* use a styling cream instead of a gel. You may not need a leave-in conditioner as a base to the styling cream because the creams are usually moisturizing enough.
* use a pomade, oil or butter to scrunch any crunch.

glycerin=humectant - by far the worst of them for me

Thank You
OK thanks for all the advice .
Here's what I'm thinking, because it is summer and most of my products do have glycerin in them (I just bought a new bottle of Suave Green Apple today in fact!)
I have GVP conditioning balm and LPVNG for conditioning. Pink Boots and KCCC with BRHG. I will have to get some small containers as suggested and I should be good to go. Trouble is I use about an oz and a half of conditioner every day so I'll need to pack a few - oh well it'll be way worth it to spend 4 days in Vegas.
Thanks for the congratulations too

Aloe gives me good, weightless additional moisture. It's usually the first thing to touch my sopping wet hair as soon as I get out of the shower, regardless of season.
Pink Boot's, KCCC, and BRHG are good for me regardless of season, too. And I often use all three.
