So I'm not really sure where to put this, but... I am going for a haircut very soon and was thinking about what to do. My stylist understands my hair, but the salon uses a lot of cone-heavy products, and sprays and creams that are horrible for my hair. This is my first haircut since going CG and I don't want to ruin my routine, but I do need a trim to bounce it up more.

What should I do? Should I bring in my co-wash and gel and ask him to only use those? Or, if I let the salon products be used, what should I do afterwards?

Speaking from my experience I get my hair cut every 3-4 mos to trim my layers and I ask my hairdresser to just put a little gel in and put me under the hair dryer when she's done. She does wash my hair with sulfate shampoo and cone conditioner but since this is so infrequent it doesn't upset my routine.

Good to know. I brought in my own gel and conditioners to be on the safe side and my stylist was totally okay with it. Thanks for your advice, though - it's a good thing I was just getting a trim.

Glad your stylist was ok with you bringing things in. Mine uses sulfate-free & cone-free products, but I hate the gel. I leave with it wet and go home, put in my leave-in, plopp, etc to finish my routine. Saves a little money too!
