Unhappy Extremely Dry Straw-like Hair... Can haz halp plz?!

My hair RIDICULOUSLY dry! I don't know why Could it be a reaction to protein? The hot, dry weather? My hair is always dry but this is just unbelievable. It feels and looks gross.

What do I do? Any help is much appreciated

I guess I'm really just looking for a miracle hopefully protein-free product that can moisturize my hair... This is depressing!

The products I rotate: Burt Bees Sugar Beet Conditioner, Suave Coconut, Suave Cherry Blossom, and GVP CB...

The Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut conditioner does have amino acids in it, so maybe that's too much protein for your hair type right now. How stretchy is it when wet?

I'd try AOHR. I love the Burt's Bees Super Shiny Grapefruit and Sugar Beet condish but it's just not thick enough for me to use all the time.

You still using the noodlehead mousse? Might be build up from that. It built up on me really fast and made my hair feel awful!!

If washing out the buildup doesn't help, AOHR and AOWC help me greatly with adding moisture as does Curl Junkie Curl Rehab.

Hi everyone! Thank you for your quick replies!!

Tinah- I stopped using the mousse about 2 weeks ago and I actually haven't bothered with styling products at all. The most I'll use is Giovanni Direct Leave-in... So I'm not sure about build-up :/

Tomorrow Never Knows & Redcelticcurls.. I'm quite a n00b >< But where can I find AO products? I've kept an eye out for them but perhaps I'm looking in the wrong places!

Lucky Charm: Thank you!! I'm worried that my hair is sensitive to proteins as well as cones so this really helps.

Thank you all!! I greatly appreciate your help

Ladyrina, I get mine at Whole Foods.

Aubrey also has a store locator on their website.

All right guys, I just wanted to update. What I thought was a protein sensitivity turned out to be a protein deficiency!! I needed MORE protein!! That's why my hair was so rough and brittle.

I did a protein treatment last week, been using products filled with proteins, and my hair is amazing.

The most IMPORTANT change I made however was using coconut oil. Just a dime amount right after I use GVPCB and wash it out. It makes the biggest difference, keeps all the moisture in.

I also bought a handful of new products: Giovanni Mousse, GVP K-pak, BTZ Noodle Head Spray, and BTZ Texture spray. I also got a BTZ Lightening Spray (don't judge! these actually work great for me) and want to go back for a few conditioning masks from Sally's.

As my hair is much healthier, I'm still considering perming a few areas of my hair. So I'll update you guys with reviews of these products and if I go through with the perm!!

Thanks for all your help
