started out cg,very frustrated

Okay its like 3 weeks since i started out cg.
Im trying to grow out my hair a little, and let it breathe again.
Im avoiding mouses and heavy gels cuz i have been using that for the whole past year daily in combination with everyday sulfate shampoo washing.
My hair did look great for a while,i got those loosely defined curls but soon after it became a totall mess.
It had major shrinkage,my curls were wheightened down,i started too get all sorts of weird hair shapes and my hair has been really damaged from all that shampooing and too much products.
Now i want to leave all that **** and embrace the poofiness and kinkiness since my hair used to look more natural, thicker and actualy felt stronger when i used to touch it.

Didnt have courage to go totally shampoo-less since i have to wash my hair on daily basis since its not that long for me to pull it.I can put a headband or something but i dont like it.I look like some silly countryboy with it.
Anyway i cowash with conditioner every day.I use garnier fructis sleek and shine(sulfate and cone free),have tried several other conditioners but they leave my hair to greasy or make my curls totally undefined.
Every other day i wash before all that routine i wash my hair with gliss kur totall repair shampoo just to get rid of any build up.
Im allso using a cone free hydrating curl creme to keep my curls defined,i put it only on the lower layers of my hair cuz it would take forever if i applied it on all the sections, and i think it would it would weightened down my curls.
Anyway i had a couple of good hair days where my hair restored its natural volume and kinkiness,my curls were free and wild but allso nicely defined and soft.
Lately, for the past several days it looks awful.
On some days my curls clump together no matter how much i detangle and feel too soft and limp making my hair having some weird shapes.
On other days after it air dries it retains kinkiness and volume which i like but its very frizzy and it feels too soft on touch, its like i cant touch a curl without deforming it.

Im not sure what's happening.I never had second hair days so i cant cut out the washing but this drivez me crazy.

Am i overconditioning it or am i putting too little conditioner in?
I dont now what to do.
I tried switching conditioners and washing again when i get an ugly result but it looks the same or even worse.

I have very fine 3c/4a curly hair.Im not trying to tame my hair or anything.I just want it to be frizz-free without tangling and feeling so soft and limp.
I would try cutting back your co-washing to every couple of days. I actually only co-wash or low-poo every 3-5 days and just water wash in between however I use a rinse-out conditioner every day. You might be overconditioned...I've never experienced this so I'm not sure what it is like. Also, if you are using cone-free products you really shouldn't need to shampoo every other day...maybe cut that down to once a week or whenever you feel your hair is experiencing build-up or feeling funky. I've read other posts from curlies who have eliminated shampooing all together and a co-wash is sufficient to cleanse the scalp and remove any build-up.

ETA: On days you shampoo you wouldn't need to co-wash. Since they accomplish the same thing I would do one or the other not both.

sounds like your hair needs protein, and to relax in your daily routines.

fine hair tends to get over conditioned easily (too soft and limp and sometimes greasy). protein will "fill in the holes" and make your hair stronger. this is probably why your hair felt stronger when you used cones because the cones did that. it doesn't take long, some you can do in the shower in 3 minutes.

also, you might be surprised how your hair will feel if you low poo once a week, and the rest of the week alternate doing water rinsing with co-washing.

you might have to build up to it. try this 4 day routine:
day one low poo
day two water rinse
day three cowash
day four water rinse

also, what products are you using? many girls are having problems with stearalkonium chloride, its in many Vo5 conditioners. it did the same thing to my hair
good luck
