Default updo/bunning styles

OK so my hair is growing out and is at the dreadded shoulder length stage. I can't stand it !! Not to mention that since going CG my curl pattern has changed from a 3a/3b to a 3b/3c and that's not helping my growth efforts at all (but that's for a different thread I suppose). At any rate I think the only way I'm going to make it through this period is to keep it up.

My question is where can I find some great ideas (with directions because I"m hair challenged) for different ways to put my hair up so it's not sitting in the same messy bun every day. My bangs are about chin length so don't quite make it back into a low pony tail either so ideas for that would be appreciated as well.
It's going to take some drastic changes with the way my hair has been behaving (or changes in the weather at least) to keep me from cutting off this frizzy mess.

I love this site for updo/bun styles (but can't do any of them yet since I'm still at chin length):

I think maybe for your length the "chinese bun" might work.

RCC has updo pics in her fotki and great advice on them. Hopefully she'll reply or you could do a quick search.

while not really a specific 'do, jaw clips are a nice alternative to a bun. goody has a few (the larger, sort of rounded ones that lie 'flat' against your head when in place- i can't seem to find a photo to link), and i really like them. i used to put my hair up in a ponytail, but i found that the elastics (even the 'ouchless' ones) tended to pull on certain parts of my hair more than others and i think led to some breakage.

with the jaw clips, i pull my hair back as if i were going to put it into a ponytail, then sort of 'twist' it upwards and then clip with the jaw clip. i find it holds really well, doesn't pull on my hair, and looks pretty elegant.

when my hair was that length, I would ponytail it, then put a scrunchy around and shove a pair of chopsticks through. It looked pretty fancy.

Now my hair is longer and that really doesn't work because I have too much of it. Well, I've got all those things in my hair right now actually, but it looks really messy. I'm having like the worst hair day of my life right now so it's definitely a last resort.

I love Sera25's fotki, she does so many cute updos. She is 4B but you might get some ideas.
