while not really a specific 'do, jaw clips are a nice alternative to a bun. goody has a few (the larger, sort of rounded ones that lie 'flat' against your head when in place- i can't seem to find a photo to link), and i really like them. i used to put my hair up in a ponytail, but i found that the elastics (even the 'ouchless' ones) tended to pull on certain parts of my hair more than others and i think led to some breakage.
with the jaw clips, i pull my hair back as if i were going to put it into a ponytail, then sort of 'twist' it upwards and then clip with the jaw clip. i find it holds really well, doesn't pull on my hair, and looks pretty elegant.
